Belated Kudos to Kelly P!!

A buddy and his 2 sons (23 and 20) and I went on our annual trip to Red Lake after Christmas. We stayed at Beacon Harbor and definetly will be back. Dean and Deb have a nice operation going with very nice rooms. We ran into Kelly in the parking lot and then on the lake road. I asked him for any areas to try and he pointed us in the direction of some broken ice. We ended up fishing this area the 2 1/2 days we fished. Kept 15 the first afternoon with a few slot fish and a dozen too small. We cleaned all to eat at a local restaurant. Filled up on fish but still needed to eat a few fish sandwiches for breakfast the next morning to finish them off. Kept 14 that day, again with a few slot and several too small. Ate fish again, and kept 10 the next day to fill out our take home limit. We would have never thought to fish the broken ice Kelly pointed us too. Thans again Kelly!!

Last year in feb he and Jonny set us uo in 8' on some rocks. We caught a lot of fish with lots of throw backs that would fit in this years new slot. I'll fish wherever they want to set us uo, they know what they're doing for sure

I'm happy that worked out for you. I think you were the closest fisherman to the landing on Beacon's road. All the people driving right by you to get deeper. All the people that are still driving right past that place. That I know of nobody has fished there since you were there. You got the luck of the draw with that one because 2 night ago I suggested to someone that they might want to try a shallow rock pile that I do not think anyone has fished all year. It didn't have a GPS or a lake map lake so I led him out to the rock pile in the darkness. The next morning I eagerly headed over there to see how he had done. He was gone and his tracks headed out deeper so I assume it didn't go too good. You're giving me kudos and he most likely is muttering about that senile old man that took him to that stupid rock pile that didn't have any fish on it.

I was once like you bturck, but a couple of times that senile old man led me to places that I don't think God himself had seen in quite a while. Was mighty glad to see my wife and kids after those trips. I also learned a long time ago that old age and treachery will always beat out youth and skill. Kelly IS the man.

I've gotten to the point where I work smarter, not harder. I think that's Kelly's philosophy as well. Looking forward to wednesday next week and how far off the beaten path he has us set up.....
