Almost Got Run Over On Whaletail Yesterday

Beware of the bone head driving a red f-150 using a red eskimo quick fish house on whaletail. The dude was whipping donuts and came within 20ft of my portable house. He was wasted too. Uncontrolled drunk driving of a full size truck on 10" of ice is real smart pal. I believe I summed up what I thought of you in our conversation. If my son had been with me, you would have been turned in. I'm not one to call the cops on a fellow fisherman unless my family is in jeopardy. Consider yourself lucky I was alone. Sorry to those around me who may have heard me yelling at the i d i o t. Pretty sure I dropped more than a few f bombs. Fishing was SLOW. Imagine that. 8ft of water with a full size truck driving like that prob sent the fish into 2ft of water. Oh, I almost forgot, thanks bone head for the offer of free pizza and to relax.

You should always turn in your fellow fisherman when they do stuff like that. You probably would be doing him a favor, jail is better then death.

I have been in your shoes before and didn't turn in the guy. It's hard but next time think that you may save someone's life.

You do realize while your family may not have been in direct harm, there was a good chance your kids might not have had a dad coming home? I'd call that putting a fmaily in jeopardy.

How would you feel if you found out he'd run over someone else and ruined their family?

Worse for him dead than in jail, maybe not necessarily for us. Now he'll get to do this again, probably on less ice, around more vulnerable people.

How about we stop patronizing the guy for not calling. We all go about things differently and in the heat of the moment lets just be happy he didn't bury that "not-so-smart" individual in one of those many holes on the lakes and attribute it to drunken stupidity. Granted, I probably would have called myself but monday morning quaterbacking is always easier... From those that may frequent whaletail, THANKS FOR THE HEADS UP! Now we know what and who to look for so in the event something like this happens again we all know that dufus is going for a completely different kind of joyride. My 2 cents

I agree, give the guy a break.. To call, or not to call, Everybody has a different reaction and sometimes tolerance to things like this. Either way there was a reckless guy in a truck doing what reckless guys do. Very dangerous.. If you see him again let ALL of the air out of the tires while he's drinking in the shack.

I watched that moron do that as I was setting up. Guy was a complete tool. I was hoping that you, or the two guys on buckets he was 20' from would've beat his sorry as s into the snow. Absolutely no reason for that dump, especially on a packed lake in 10" of ice. Glad to see you get out and say something to him. The way you stared him down for about 10 minutes made me think for sure you were getting a plate otherwise I would've.

I should have called and completely understand that now. It was something I debated about, but was solo and didn't want any backlash. I've been worried about who might else be in harms way since I got home last night. I'd pack up and make the call from my vehicle if I was to do it over.

The point of my post is to make others aware so they can set up far away and avoid the stupidity.

Aside from the 3 ring circus how is the fishing out there? Did it really get winter kill like what was posted in the fall here?

Everyone I have talked to had said its slow. The crappies that have been caught are 7-8". Aside from a few big bass, and one jumbo I d I o t , not much action out there.

I have a friend with a perm on Whaletale, and he has been doing poorly this season.

I ventured out on Whaletail late last week for a few hours and must have pulled in over 30 crappies...none over 8 inches. Has anyone been having any luck on the deeper side of the lake?
