Using leeches as bait on URL?

I haven't seen any talk of using leeches as bait. I know they are great for open water walleye fishing but are we allowed to use it on URL?

i would assume this is because leeches are VERY hard to come by this time of year.... where are you able to get leeches?

Good luck finding them anywhere up here unless they are preserved. They might ball up JUST a little bit in the cold water too. lol

I've never really known the lake to have a strong leech bite. I've tried them from time to time but minnows just work better. And never in chilly water either.

I will let you know how it goes! I found a bait bucket in my garage a couple weeks ago that has a couple dozen leaches in it. I believe it was from September and somehow all but 1 are still alive. I'm headed up to leach this Friday and will be giving them a jig!

I'm coming up with my wife on Sunday and we are coming from the twin cities so I buy em here but hopefully they'll survive the drive there. I figured that if the water stays cold they'll survive long enough to use em. If we get the chance to drop some down the ice this weekend ill let ya know how it compares to the minnow bite.
