"just looking for some decent wallet lakes "

I hooked a wallet on Lida years ago. It had over $500.00 in it and the id was pretty worn out. I was able to figure out it belonged to a guy from Oklahoma. Gave him a call and sent it back to him, minus the postage. It was just before Christmas and Ed Shultz called from his radio show and talked to me about it. The AP picked up the story and my brother was in the cities when the local radio anouncer says "When we come back, a story about a fisherman that hooked a wallet full of money and sent it back to he owner" My brother thought to himself, "I have a brother dumb enough to do somethng like that."

So, my recommendation for a good wallet lake would have to be Lida, which by the way is a very good walleye lake...

If anyone knows Lida and "eyes" it is Cicada! Keep in mind the slot on Lida makes it difficult to go home with "eaters". A friend of mine and another buddy went out the other evening, caught 10 and all were in the slot.

Sallie is a good walleye lake with lots of smaller fish and plenty of eaters, Star is another one and Island N of DL is loaded with eyes with very little winter pressure, just fish one of the many humps at dusk and you will catch walleyes.

BTW, great story on the Wallet Cicada....not surprised you went out of your way to return it....keep on keeping on....stay safe....and wish you the best in 2013.

On sallie I like to go way out. SE of the 50' hole. Lots of inside turns/structure that is not fished much in the winter.

Cicada - Way to good of a response. I may have to look at a winter and spring trip up north if I keep reading about good fishing.

I genuinely think it's awesome you guys are willing to give up specific spots to people looking for places to fish. Good for you, and thanks!

Good karma, for sure. I might not be hitting those exact spots this weekend, but I know I'm going to use the advice on depths and time of day. I've never got into a good eye bite through the ice. Maybe that will change Saturday. Thanks for the help!
