Fustrated.. NO Fish!

Recommended Posts

So I have been out on 3 different Lakes in 3 days, Rice, Little Floyd and Floyd, Only caught 2 perch Nothing in size... Kinda New or still wet behind the ears at this ICE fishing thing.. I haven't done this since I was a kid... 30 something years ago... Last year was my first time back I went once with a friend to LOW. Didn't catch anything there either... Pointers, Some Hot Spots, A little hints on what Lures to buy? I am not afraid to try different things or Travel to find the fish! Thanks for all your Help!!

Ps. I can find the fish in the spring and Summer time.... Just not in the winter LOL

what i have found is if im new to a lake i dont catch anything but thats just me. Also you just have to move around a lot and if you dont have a vexilar or anything like it its going to be harder to find fish this is just what i have learned in my few years of ice fishing

Like your Fish Naked.... I am a Diver too so I get a kick out of that!! Ready to do the Polar Plunge in Feb!!

I've been hitting my fall spots which has been working well. Walleyes and perch In the 18-23' depth. Had good luck on Melissa and DL looked at areas that dropped shallow area to a deep flat quickly seemed they would move through mainly in the evening.

Do you have a Vexilar or any type of flasher? It would be great to help you out. Just need to know what you have for gear first.

NO I don't have any flasher.. I did buy the NAVIONICS for the smart phone... I just have a Small Arsnal of Ice Fishing lures.. A Clam Jr. 10" power auger. About 10 different Poles.. from Browning to I guess some Cheap versions.. I spent $150 last week on lures.. ( NOT hard to do) lol Some Neon glows. Some weight heads...

Ok, could have spent another $100 and darn near got a vex wink...... I would say drill more holes, and fish at least a couple feet from the bottom to target the more aggressive fish. I would suggest picking up some sort of flasher. Its UNBELIEVABLE how much one will change your "luck". Maybe we can get out some time if you are willing to travel up to my neck of the woods and we will find you some fish.

I couldn't afford a flasher so I bought an ice transducer for my hummingbird graph. Desperation and speed are not as good but i can see fish and read depths and see where my lure is at.

Hey Northerneye. Sorry I don't have any advice for you, but if it makes you feel any better---I've gotten skunked the last few times out too so you're not the only one. I swear I'm wearing fish repellant sometimes.

I've fished three different lakes for different species, all based off of DNR survey numbers that looked promising. I fished inside turns, flats, saddles, mid-lake humps, weed lines, even explored basins with nothing but a bunch of 5" perch to show for it.

I've put a lot of hours on the Marcum, and I've drilled about 40 holes in different locations each time I've been out. It feels like I'm doing everything I should be, but like I said---fish repellant.

I've had a couple good days too though before the latest drought, so I know it will turn around. It will for you too, just keep on trying. I know with some of the awesome reports that get posted on this site, a guy can feel like he's the only one not catching fish. It just takes one good day of fishing and you'll forget about the bad ones.

Northerneye, To get some confidence up go out to a community spot and start catching fish: Leif, Cormorant, Little Detroit, Melissa all have community spots that guys are fishing. Start picking up some gills and go from there.

Some lakes and years vary also, have a friend who had a great winter last year, put his house on the same spot and is getting shut out more times than not walleye/crappie I should add. Few weeks ago I was on a lake 3 miles from him and his friend, they texted at 6PM and had 0 and no bites, said they must not be biting tonight, a friend and I had 18 crappies and 1 nice 17" walleye, and missed or lost several fish also, the year before was so opposite, keep at it and keep trying different things and different lakes.

What I really wanna know is:   How’d get that lattice to curve like that?  Bomb diggity!

Fish Newton lake is great for walleyes. Everyone goes to basswood and forgets about newton. The late fall pike bite in pipestone is amazing and it’s a great time to catch the big walleyes are up there feeding too.

It would cost you 830 bucks to watch every game this NFL season under multiple platforms.   I don't have peacock or espn+ or whatever they want me to have, so I'll just have to relent on being able to watch a few games.  I refuse to cave in to their demands just to watch the Packers play the Eagles in Brazil.  I think last year peacock had the exclusive rights to the Miami/KC playoff game too.  I'm sure that will occur again in January.

Well it's a win, but it wasn't to Purdy with all the turn overs and penalties!

Oop, must be another Vikings game.  So far it's been a Prudy game, Viks!  😁

Another prediction.   Under the cloud of "Woke Inclusion" Just like the Mn state flag and the Mn Twins, the Vikings name will be going away in a few years! Their already making them look like Snow flakes!  We can't have the uniforms of angry Norwegian people!  Sounds funny but. Wait for it! 😒

Just sayen, not all the loyal old fans, can pay for the NFL viewing package!

New frontiers.  Expand the market; make more money.  Despite some PR moments, they’re not in it for charity.   BUT, they might want to take a moment and see how that worked out for NASCAR.  Not that having to buy premium channels to watch races was the only problem but it sure helped kill the fever for a lot of people.

Get ready. Any bets in a few years the average Joe NFL fans aren't going to be able to watch their local teams, unless it's pay for view!  Sounds like their greasing the wheels now.  There are 5 international games this year! ☹️ "The NFL will play a regular season game in Madrid, Spain in 2025, as the NFL prioritizes global growth and expands the International Games to new cities and markets around the world."

I have gone into Basswood from Fall Lake. From Fall the first portage takes you into Newton and that is the easier of the two. The portage from Newton into Pipestone is the one with a hill. It is definitely harder! You also have to be careful when you go down the hill because the boat will pick up speed and can get away from you. Yes, you can get to Jackfish without going into Canada and there are signs letting you know where Canada is.
