Zumbro ice, ATV

Recommended Posts

I haven't been out to the Zumbro in a week, has anyone been out there? If so how is the ice, and are they using ATV's on the ice at all?

Was out 6AM to 7 PM yesterday. we fished 2nd bay. the ice was good. thinnest i found was 8 inches. we drilled from the "bay" side all the way to 8 feet deep on the other side..ice was good all the way across.

Many people are using wheelers and snowmobiles, there was a wheel house out also.

I would guess that we will have vehicle traffic by next weekend if the weather holds below freezing. I would be comfortable with driving from fishermans to 2nd bay with LIGHT vehicles now.

Thanks sirlips, was out on Zumbro today and while the ice was plenty the fishing was meh. Put in at Fisherman's Inn and went to second bay where we were skunked. Drove around the lake caught a few strippers but nothing to write home about. I believe your right, by next weekend we should be able to drive the length of the lake. I did see someone at the end of the day by second bay with a jeep. Thanks for the reply.

Yah, we didnt "crush" them either. Was out with Aaron from Stevens Outdoors, another guide from SO and a friend that had never ice fished. Between the 4 of us we took home a limit of nice crappies. Aaron ended up icing 7 species of fish including white and black crappie, small mouth bass, perch, cat fish, walleye and a gill.basically we through the kitchen sink at them and only ended up with one limit of good sized crappies.

The rookie got his first Crappie, bass and perch through the ice. Was a good day for teaching, was a poor day for action.

We fished as deep as we could right in the channel. Early morning had MUCH more action than any other time of day.The pressure was 30.2 to 30.4 by 9AM, and that seems to turn them off quick on the zumbro, marked many fish but few takers.

What I really wanna know is:   How’d get that lattice to curve like that?  Bomb diggity!

Fish Newton lake is great for walleyes. Everyone goes to basswood and forgets about newton. The late fall pike bite in pipestone is amazing and it’s a great time to catch the big walleyes are up there feeding too.

It would cost you 830 bucks to watch every game this NFL season under multiple platforms.   I don't have peacock or espn+ or whatever they want me to have, so I'll just have to relent on being able to watch a few games.  I refuse to cave in to their demands just to watch the Packers play the Eagles in Brazil.  I think last year peacock had the exclusive rights to the Miami/KC playoff game too.  I'm sure that will occur again in January.

Well it's a win, but it wasn't to Purdy with all the turn overs and penalties!

Oop, must be another Vikings game.  So far it's been a Prudy game, Viks!  😁

Another prediction.   Under the cloud of "Woke Inclusion" Just like the Mn state flag and the Mn Twins, the Vikings name will be going away in a few years! Their already making them look like Snow flakes!  We can't have the uniforms of angry Norwegian people!  Sounds funny but. Wait for it! 😒

New frontiers.  Expand the market; make more money.  Despite some PR moments, they’re not in it for charity.   BUT, they might want to take a moment and see how that worked out for NASCAR.  Not that having to buy premium channels to watch races was the only problem but it sure helped kill the fever for a lot of people.

Get ready. Any bets in a few years the average Joe NFL fans aren't going to be able to watch their local teams, unless it's pay for view!  Sounds like their greasing the wheels now.  There are 5 international games this year! ☹️ "The NFL will play a regular season game in Madrid, Spain in 2025, as the NFL prioritizes global growth and expands the International Games to new cities and markets around the world."
