Years past have shown there roads to be quite narrower than other resorts (say zipple bay for example is as wide as the interstate). Until they prove otherwise I will remain less than impressed.

Generally they will plow a smaller 2 lane road and plow a new one when it gets drifted in.

It prety naroow an with alot of snow an the sides of the narrow road alot of pressure build up an it can flood earlier than others.

One of the last areas remaining on the lake that resembles old fashioned do it yourself, take care of yourself ice fishing.

As in, thanks for access to the lake, I'll take it from here.

I love it, and I hope it NEVER changes.

Beware of the ice.... I just about dropped a truck through the road out of springsteel tonight. A cack formed following the road and we busted through. We were not pulling a fish house just an empty truck. They put a barricade up but I wouldn't drive on the road for a while.

Where is the barricade? I'm out on the dnr reef and watched all the trucks coming off yesterday driving hwy speeds I expected something like that to happen. People need to slow down. Fishing on the dnr reef was really slow yesterday I actually caught more Keeper fish between 10-11 last night than all day.

I'm NE of dnr by maybe 8th of a mile. Tandem axle gray wheel house and a red crew cab 1/2 ton ford. I heard the baracade is at the little heave that we cross closer to shore.

from their face book page....

Springsteel Resort, Inc

The lake is progressing nicely but we still only have 12 to 16 inches of ice. Our biggest problem is that people are driving entirely too fast and it's breaking up the weaker parts. We have moved the road. We just staked off the bad ice and drive around it. We have a staked trail to South Pt. Fishing has been better at DNR and South Pt. in about 23 to 26 feet.

Yep, too many folks in a hurry out there. We were on 16" ice measured with a tape but i had neighborsabout 8th of a mile from us that had 13". Good clear ice but it would pop and water would go up/down in the holes when the ice racers came by hell bent for south tip with full sized trucks.

Thanks for the pictures. Was the ride of a lifetime. I couldn't get any pics last night. We were West of u Dave on the west side of the breaker through dnr reef. I am the guy that looked at your expedition this past summer. Thinking from this point on the truck can stay in shore.... I think ill stick to the geo tracker on tracks i found this fall. I know coming off last night for dinner I got past by someone doing well over 40 driving a crew cab. I still don't know how we drove out of it last night, had to be the Firestone tires, right! Lol

I have been out of Springsteel since Thursday the 28th with my 1/2 ton Chevy and my 8x16 Ice Castle. I am on the DNR reef. 13"-15" of ice. Probably 75 feet off the road. Everything would be fine if people would just slow down. A black 4 door 4x4 Chevy come by my house going at least 60 on his way to south tip. If I would have been in a portable I would have had wet boots. If you need to get to your spot sooner leave earlier.

No man it was really slow. We lost some minnows and marked some fish but caught nothing. I think I am going to move about 50 feet and see if a new spot on the same "fish trail" helps. That and I want to get a little further off the road.

Since the "road" slid to the east due to the road crack created by our ice flats speed racers....

Yeah, moving further off the drag strip would be a good idea.

What I really wanna know is:   How’d get that lattice to curve like that?  Bomb diggity!

Fish Newton lake is great for walleyes. Everyone goes to basswood and forgets about newton. The late fall pike bite in pipestone is amazing and it’s a great time to catch the big walleyes are up there feeding too.

It would cost you 830 bucks to watch every game this NFL season under multiple platforms.   I don't have peacock or espn+ or whatever they want me to have, so I'll just have to relent on being able to watch a few games.  I refuse to cave in to their demands just to watch the Packers play the Eagles in Brazil.  I think last year peacock had the exclusive rights to the Miami/KC playoff game too.  I'm sure that will occur again in January.

Well it's a win, but it wasn't to Purdy with all the turn overs and penalties!

Oop, must be another Vikings game.  So far it's been a Prudy game, Viks!  😁

Another prediction.   Under the cloud of "Woke Inclusion" Just like the Mn state flag and the Mn Twins, the Vikings name will be going away in a few years! Their already making them look like Snow flakes!  We can't have the uniforms of angry Norwegian people!  Sounds funny but. Wait for it! 😒

Just sayen, not all the loyal old fans, can pay for the NFL viewing package!

New frontiers.  Expand the market; make more money.  Despite some PR moments, they’re not in it for charity.   BUT, they might want to take a moment and see how that worked out for NASCAR.  Not that having to buy premium channels to watch races was the only problem but it sure helped kill the fever for a lot of people.

Get ready. Any bets in a few years the average Joe NFL fans aren't going to be able to watch their local teams, unless it's pay for view!  Sounds like their greasing the wheels now.  There are 5 international games this year! ☹️ "The NFL will play a regular season game in Madrid, Spain in 2025, as the NFL prioritizes global growth and expands the International Games to new cities and markets around the world."

I have gone into Basswood from Fall Lake. From Fall the first portage takes you into Newton and that is the easier of the two. The portage from Newton into Pipestone is the one with a hill. It is definitely harder! You also have to be careful when you go down the hill because the boat will pick up speed and can get away from you. Yes, you can get to Jackfish without going into Canada and there are signs letting you know where Canada is.
