12/18 Report

Fished out of Zippel in 25 ft. They are letting trucks out on the road. We dropped the lines about 7:30, got a couple of nice saugers right away, then it got quiet for a a few of hours. About 11:00 or so it picked up again, then shut off, then picked up again around 2:00. Then shut off and picked up again around 4:30 or so, then the eelpout moved in. 2 of us kept 13, smallest measured just over the bucket and the biggest fish were about 18". Mostly light biters but they would also chase the jig up to about 5 or 6 ft. off the bottom and smack it. Regular gold jigs, small hammered gold AE and the small firetiger glowdevils with fatheads seemed to be the ticket.

wallydiver, thanks a lot for all the reports. KEEP 'EM COMING!!<P>I can't make it up until the end of Jan. with all the kid’s basketball tourneys going on, so these reports are really driving me nuts. I hope they are biting in the end of Jan. still.<BR>

BFG<BR>Thats when I'm going. Last year,We caught alot more bigger fish-at the end of Jan,compared to end of Dec. Lets just hope nothing changed.

Wallydiver..<P>Awesome report. Thanks for all of the info. What were you using? If you were using spoons how did you present them? Did you jig really hard, or a gentle presentation? How thick was the ice. I heard a pickup went through over by twin today, did you? what were your best colors, I like pink and blue. Me and some friends might come up the week of the 23 of jan, do you think the fishing will still be good? Do you think there will be enough ice for a 84 chev luv pickup? Yeah it's a tight squeeze for 4 but when the fish are bitin it don't matter.

Seamonster - it was a little ways out and to the left of the resort. I was in one of Zippels houses, so yeah, there were a bunch of houses around us. <P>Reefer... i was really getting jiggy with it. i had my angel eyes and glow devils - so no matter where or how i presented the bait, i'd catch fish.
