NOT great, but NOT bad.
4 of us went up out of Adrians, over Pine Island and fished in 20-23/24ft of water. Didn't get fishing until 10:45am and stayed until 4:30pm.
Fished with buckshoot, angel eyes, (gold) and then a gold demon on our deadsticks.
Between us we caught 100 fish. Lots of SMALL eyes and saugers. Biggest eye was 16", biggest sauger was 14/15".
I had heard on 12/16 over at Cyrus Lodge that one house didn't catch anything for the day. (maybe they did catch some, but nothing worth bragging about?!?! )
Anybody else have a report for these two days?
Maybe it was us? I always seem to have bad luck when it comes to fishing.

Captain,
Did you move in shallow at all during the evening? In the past, this has helped us catch a few more bigger ones.

See post: report 15-16. We had better luck fishing out deeper, 26-27'. Caught lots of nice size fish. Also caught lots and lots of 12-13" walleyes (that went back), but didn't have any problem keeping the majority of fish in the 15-16" range.
We didn't go shallow like we usually do, decided the bite was good enough out deep. we didn't get any monsters, but nice fish none the less. The last hour of light in shallow is usually awesome, it was a bust out deep, but we caught enough fish up till 3:00 that we just didn't make the move.
Good luck if you go again!
Ken

No I didn't move any. Acutally I moved from 20-24 feet in within a 100 yards earlier in the day.
From going right over Pine off the Adrian access, we plucked down in the first set of houses to the right but way before the majority of the houses.
I sat up by some other portables and watched them to see if they were moving around.
I will watch the site, hoping to maybe get up there again so, but with the Holidays...who knows?!?!

Captain,
A buddy and I fished over Pine on Sunday and Monday and caught around 150 fish. Sounds like you're going too deep at the peak periods. We hit 15' and did very well. During the day, we moved out to 22-23 feet and caught a lot of saugers. I'd definitely move in shallower during the morning and evenings, though. "If you drill it in 15', they will come." Hope this helps.
Mark

Thanks Mark, I'm thinking about getting up there again.

Made a quick trip before the weekend rush on Vermilion. Ice was in very good condition. Didn't see any slush or water on any of the roads out from McKinley Park. There are plowed roads on both side of the staked snowmobile trail coming out from the landing. The road to the left goes out toward Birch Island, and there is a spur road going to the left (west) a couple hundred yards out. The road on the right side goes out toward Ely Island. There is a short spur road going east about half mile out. The water came up under my fish house about another 1½ inches when I drilled my holes. Looks like I will be going back up early next week to block my house up higher. The small amount of new snow is really drifting up and adding weight. You may get water on the ice, or find slush if you drill holes in new areas. There is about 15% bare ice where the wind has blown it off. Many of the drifts are very high and hard, so you could get stuck on them. Fishing was average. Best bites were from 9-10am and 11-1230 when I quit. Biggest walleyes was only 16¼", then the next biggest was 13.75". Reporting lengths in quarter inches because I can't seem to find any big walleyes. Good luck fishing, be careful driving around, and be courteous to others.
