Tigers beat the Yankees, right? They are definetly my team to root for.

If I had to bet though, I'd bet on San Fran.

I am Tiger fan from birth. I am old school. I couldnt care less about the WS. They swept the Yankees. Thats more than I could ask for. I remembern 1984 like it was yesterday. My dad and I weeping for joy after Gibbie hit that homerun. But there was no Yankee sweep that year. This year, a WS title would just be greedy after the ALCS domination. Go Tigers

The giants are hot right now, but IMO the tigers are a better team. I think it will be a good series with the tigers winning in 6.

I think Detroit rock city mainly because if Verlander wins 2 for them they can get a win out of Scherzer and Fister. I don't think Prince and Miguel and even Delmon who likes the fastball, they won't be intimidated but SF got there somehow so they have magic on their side. Detroit in 6 so it'll be SF in 6 lol.

Yep lol, Detroit looked stale, SF looked ultra focused and Verlander's heater isn't as hot come October. Lincecum in the pen, wow still a battle to be waged. Vikes tonight though.

I was surprised Detroit lost with Verlander on the mound. His stuff just didn't look quite as good as normal. Although that first homerun that Sandoval hit was just crazy. I couldn't believe he turned on that high and tight heater like he did.

If you're Detroit and you go down 2-0, do you start Verlander again in Game 4 and hope he's ready for game 7 if it goes that far?

SF, yep there's a reason they made it, actually many reasons, have a night big panda, Detroit must have this next 1. Barry Zito wow, I bet that felt pretty good being left off the roster a couple years ago and all the overpayed comments etc. He erased a lot of those memories last night.

Considering my pick was the cardinals, whoever I pick.. I think I have a better than 50% chance of being wrong.

When I saw Verlanders heater if the gun was accurate last night you almost knew he could have trouble, his change-up was a waste so hitters had 2 options and does he tip his off-speed stuff, it sure seemed like he pushes that ball into his off speed grip before he takes it out to throw the pitch, it just seemed more obvious on his off-speed pitches vs. his fastball, must not or he would've fooled nobody, but watch that in his next start.

Wow did not expect that! The tigers were never in the series. At least they made it a little more interesting in the last game before they were swept..... Congratulations to the Giants!

Prince, he looked icky, these were all NL guys he's faced many times to look that bad at the plate. SF wouldn't be denied detroit looked shell shocked the whole series.

It was great to see the Giants wax the Tigers, it was almost like watching the Twins in different uniforms! Love that style of home brewed old school baseball.

Not surprising, but very interesting to listen to the coaches, players and fans after the game.

Team work, unselfessness, intangibles, camaraderie, Laughter, positive attitudes all the things that lead to this fantastic 3 year run!

Whats the big deal so our 2 time Cy Young award winner can't pitch any-longer, heck we'll just put him in the bull-pen and the rest of our Pitchers who are ALL home raised Giants through our farm system will pick up the slack!

Way to go Giants~

pier, don't you know the manager and payroll win the world series and nothing else?

no silly. it's the bullpen coach and a base coach that win and lose championships. had our twins made those changes prior to this season, we'd all be celebrating right now our very own twins world series championship.

We all know that the manager has absolutely no role or accountability in a team's success or failure. that's why none of the teams in baseball never, ever fire their managers. the manager's responsibility is to spit seeds, give players cute little nicknames that end in the letter "y" and be in cheesy tv commercials.

I might have missed a guess, but here are the ones that I noted:   JerkinLips – March 27th, then April 7th Brianf. – March 28th Bobberwatcher – April…. MikeG3Boat – April 10th SkunkedAgain – early April, then April 21st   Definitely a tough year for guesses, as it seemed to be a no-brainer early ice out. Then it got cold and snowed again.

So, that was you in the camo lund? I'm bummed, I have to head back to the cities tomorrow for a few days, then back up for at least a few weeks. Got the dock in and fired up to get out chasing some crappies till opener!

On the south end...   Lots of ice on the main basin, but it is definitely deteriorating.  Some anglers have been fishing the open water at the mouth of the Rainy River in front of the Lighthouse Gap.  The rest of the basin is still iced over. Pike enthusiasts caught some big pike earlier last week tip up fishing in pre-spawn areas adjacent to traditional spawning areas.  8 - 14' of water using tip ups with live suckers or dead bait such as smelt and herring has been the ticket.  Ice fishing for all practical purposes is done for the year. The focus for the basin moving forward will be pike transitioning into back bays to spawn,  This is open water fishing and an opportunity available as the pike season is open year round on Lake of the Woods. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. With both the ice fishing and spring fishing on the Rainy River being so good, many are looking forward to the MN Fishing Opener on Saturday, May 11th.  It should be epic. On the Rainy River...  An absolutely incredible week of walleye and sturgeon fishing on the Rain Rainy River.     Walleye anglers, as a rule, caught good numbers of fish and lots of big fish.  This spring was one for the books.   To follow that up, the sturgeon season is currently underway and although every day can be different, many boats have caught 30 - 40 sturgeon in a day!  We have heard of fish measuring into the low 70 inch range.  Lots in the 60 - 70 inch range as well.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  Open water is continuing to expand in areas with current.  The sight of open water simply is wetting the pallet of those eager for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th.   A few locals were on the ice this week, targeting pike.  Some big slimers were iced along with some muskies as well.  If you like fishing for predators, LOW is healthy!

Early bird gets the worm some say...   I have it on good authority that this very special angler caught no walleyes or muskies and that any panfish caught were released unharmed.
