A head or cap light is useful. On new water I like to check out a few spots before it gets dark to lay some gps trails and get comfprtable. I try to lay things out where they are easy to find and keep it simple. You can see surprising well at night especially with a full moon as long as you don't blind yourself with bright lights. Also dim your electronics a bit will help out. You'll need something to measure fish with as well.

Ps...

Don't forget a camera!

I used to use an electric lantern in the boat, but I switched a few years ago to a headlamp, and I'll never look back. In my opinion, they're very, very worth the money. You don't need an expensive one, either. I get good ones for $10 or $15....money well spent. Just my .02.

Good lighting is a must and GPS and a map chip makes trolling a lot easier at night.

Sounds like Appledorns is booked solid

Does anyone have any recommendations for places to stay?

Might be able to get a camper if that would be an option

Thanks for any help

Aaron

Depends on how far you want to drive, I guess, and if camping out is an option. I hear it's perfect "sleeping weather" that time of year. smile

Garrison Inn and Suites would be a bit of a haul, but you might have luck with vacancy there, too.

I use both. The headlamp is good for small tasks but a lantern is great for line tangles.

A lantern also lights up the area good to alert an incoming boat.

i will clarify what i know (not trying to start bad rumors or anything)....i called this am for buffet, they said room was currently booked to capacity, i assumed this meant for seminars as well, will call again to check that

k...just got off phone, person thought seminar/buffet was all one item but will check with manager to see if that is the case or not. dont know if "drop ins" for seminars is ok or not, maybe someone setting this up with the resort can chime in on here regarding that.

Due to the the demand currently the Appeldoorn's seminar room is maxed to capacity.

We are working on another option in order to be able to handle more people for this event.

We have started a list of names and when we come up with a viable option we will be calling and letting folks know.

Yes, you can come for the seminars, prize drawings and contest rules.

We are looking at options to increase the amount of folks who can join in on the buffet.

This is going to be fun. Bring the family & friends if you'd like.
