HDS 7 Problems

MallardMayhem

Question

So I was nice enough to let my brother borrow my boat to take up north a couple weeks ago. Today I was finally able to hit the water once again due to work schedule. When I powered up my HDS 7 the screen is white/gray in color and cant read anything. There is also what looks like a water stain behind the glass. I am just furious because this is not the only thing that happened and of course it wasnt like that when he brought it back he says. Highly Doubtful! Has anyone seen or had a problem like this before. I think it was either dropped or left out in a rainstorm. S*** is going to hit the fan tomorrow. Thanks MM

Being left out in a rain storm shouldn't have any effect on the HDS7. My HDS5s have been used in heavy rain many times with no problem.

Being dropped could ruin the water tight seal and cause the problems you are seeing.

I've seen the screen of an HDS8 that was ruined by spray on sunscreen. It left milky film on the screen that you couldn't see through and could not be cleaned off.

The first run of HDS units had waterproofing problem, and this sounds like your issue. Most of these where taken care of right away. Give them a call in the morning and see what they will do for you..
