How much would you pay for a MN deer tag?

Great find Dave! Bet the dude selling it almost peed his pants after the first bid! Found it comical that the winner can save 5 dollars for a "bill me later purchase".......

I tried to give them almost $600 and the state said no. frown

Since I don't have $10,000 to pay for a tag, I guess I will try a couple of other states this year.

Apparently if you manage for a balanced herd and limit non resident tags you can charge whatever you want, and keep all the resident hunters happy at the same time.

Yes, it's time to stir the pot again.

How do you know all the resident hunters are happy? I can't believe that there are not resident hunters that have been forced off of land that they have hunted in the past by guides/outfitters/leasing.

How much would I pay? Well, the last 3 years i've shot 1 deer, but bought the following licenses:

Shotgun Season: $27

Bonus: $15

Bonus: $15

Muzzy Season: $27

Total: $84

I'd be willing to pay $84 to shoot 1 deer...Since that is what i've been paying for the last 3 years. Still haven't filled a bonus tag, but i've bought at least 8 in my life. smirk

Looks like i'll pass on the $9,000 tag...Can get a lot of fishing done for that kind of $$.

It's for charity and 1/2 the sale price goes to the Iowa DNR.

"A CONSERVATION DEER TAG HAS BEEN ISSUED TO THE JOHNSON COUNTY HERITAGE TRUST BY THE IOWA DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES (DNR) FOR THE 2012 OR 2013 SEASON. 1/2 OF PROCEEDS FROM THE SALE OF THIS TAG WILL GO TO THE JOHNSON COUNTY HERITAGE TRUST’S EFFORTS TO PRESERVE LAND IN JOHNSON COUNTY, IOWA & THE OTHER 1/2 WILL GO TO THE DNR"

Exactly! The sale of that license helps aquire more land for the public. I think its a great idea to do for a NR license for a non-profit place! As long as its not "some guy" making the 9 Grand...

What id pay for a license and what I can afford are two different things! If money was no object, I would pay 9000 to hunt Iowa if I knew it was for a good cause.

If the state can get it, go for it I guess? They aren't taking any opportunity from the residents... only providing more.

Its tax deductable. What a deal. crazyThat sure beats the $2 a week marriage credit we get in this state. I might have to trade the wife for a Iowa tag.

Ditto with SpecialK and Slimngriz. Giant corporate, or private wealthy contributions to a good cause. No prob with that.

I'd definitely keep the wife though! She's worth way more than $104.00 to me! wink

I don't. I do know that by limiting non residents Iowa has kept the leasing and outfitting to a minimum, most guys won't lease land they can only hunt every third or fourth year. I also know I knocked on doors in an Iowa county known for producing B&C deer and got free hunting permission on 4 different farms two years ago. If Iowa hunters are being displaced by leases there's obviously options available to them. Nobody even asked me to pay them.

Besides that, your point as I understand it is; "Let's keep the hunting in MN sub-par so some of us don't have to leave our sub-par hunting land and go find different sub-par hunting land." Sounds logical, I guess.

Here's another one about a grand cheaper so far...

This one is kind of ironic, because the organization getting the other half of the profits is the Iowa Bowhunters Association. An organization that has been very active in promoting a limited number of non resident tags.
