so I awoke saturday morning to find a little black/white mutt thing in my kennel with my lab. ther was one small hole where my black lab had been digging that he must of gotten in. My lab must of come in heat on friday. The mutt was a little short thing, so I don't know if he could of breed my female, but just to make sure........is there a Plan B shot or pill I can give my female just to make darn sure nothing happens. I planned on getting her breed in december, but to a LAB, not some ugly mutt thing.

Thanks

Yes there are shots, but you need to take her to the vet to get it done. There are a couple different options they can do. There is an injection called Prostaglandins F2alpha (PGF) that can be given for 4 days once a day. There are also estrogen injection, but they are not recommended because they can cause infection of the uterus. If she really can into on heat on Friday, she wouldn't be ready to breed yet. Good luck!

There is only a short window of time to do any of the morning after options. They are hard on the girls so make sure you have a real good discussion with your vet on what is the best route to take.

Good Luck!

Growing up on a farm, we had a small Hereford bull, a good foot shorter than all the Holstein cows but he'd dog those cows until he got the job done. My bet is that your dog is bred.
