Mercury Motor Question

Recommended Posts

I have a 98' 75 hp mercury outboard...was out fishing last night & my low oil alarm went off. (steady beep) Put oil in & it is still on. Anybody else have this happen or know what the issue may be?

Engine is running fine & still peeing water good & not hot.

Oil reservoir is topped off...got the sensor wire unplugged. Any recommendations for a reputable mechanic in the Brainerd area?

Sounds like you have some air trapped in your system. If the tank under the motor cowling was almost out you are supposed to top it off and then prime the system first prior to starting the engine up. That will supposedly burp the air out. Not sure if that applies to that old of a motor, but it does to the newer ones.

Had to order new oil tank...it was a magnetic float sensor that came detached off a wire. You can't re-glue it either without making it to heavy & forcing it to fall to bottom. Not an air issue but yes I do that as well good point.
