Canoe rental ?

Recommended Posts

Any canoe or kayak rentals in the Monticello or surrounding areas? We would like to float the Mississippi for the day.

Thanks

You might want to give that some thought, the flow in the river in Minneapolis is equal to the peak of the spring thaw right now. It might behoove you to wait a bit until the current drops a bit.

The river flow is so high that the locks in the cities are closed to recreational traffic and if the flow rate goes up another 3000 cfm (or less than a 10% increase) they will close to all traffic.

I don't know that I would want to "float" the river right now.

Clear Waters outfitters in right in Clearwater like Brad said. Right now they are only renting and or providing shuttle service to expierienced on the river. Its pretty nuts out there right now.

Bookin' and flushing.....everything, a neighbor lost their dock and lift in the last high water to a seriously big tree floating by, 24 foot aluminum dock gone forever, they did get the lift back I was told.

If you're an experienced canoeist, this high-water would be a fun ride. I've been down the Sauk a few times recently, and it's a blast. Obviously in the MIss you've gotta watch out for floating stuff, though.
