Well Muskie opener is upon us, So let us see some pics of the Muskies taken from SouthCentral Mn. Don't forget to let us know what lake you were on. How deep and what lure.

Good luck!

I spoke with the Rice County Sheriff water patrol the other day, and asked them about Musky opener on French. They said they did not see as much activity in years past.

That kind of activity would be boat traffic and safety. Water skiers and such.

How about all the other county s in this part of the state? Let's see them Muskies!

I'm starting to think all the stories of Muskies in this area can be classified with Bigfoot and the Loc Ness monster. All the talk has moved them into legendary status. If one is caught the story will be told for years to come.

Got one small tiger musky off French lake on saturday, was working a point drop off in about 5' water on a fire tiger color rapala. Didn't measure it but was about 2' long.

Nice to hear of the Tiger in French. I would assume that would have been from natural reproduction, unless they stocked those in there too. Got a pic?

From FB, download the pic to your PC, the 5th button from your left on this site in the msg part with the blue up arrow button, will allow you to upload a picture. *note there are sometimes issues if you use Chrome, but all other browsers work just fine.

Ok, it was so light colored and i was in more of a hurry to get a pic and throw him back. I guess i didnt know tigers didnt go thru the pattern phases. Oh well, still nice to actually catch one while fishing for them. I thought that was all they had in that lake as well, i dont know why but thats what i was thinking as well.

We spent Tuesday sept 26 to this Tuesday on the east end of the lake. Very consistent temperature and that southern wind with a bit of cloud cover was great for walleye fishing. We followed the wind and fished wind blown points and shoreline.  A few minutes on the graph showed us fish most places.  We saw fish, caught those fish.  We tend to fish lindy rigs but fished entirely jigs and minnows,  (y-store had plenty of bait).  Didn’t go to Big Bay but probably left some schooling fish for someone else. Caught fish all times of the day.  Didn’t need to low light for success.  Last two days of warmer temps and full sun slowed the bite a bit.  Didn’t see the 30” pigs as others have referred to but saw plenty over 20 and many of those smaller fish to remind us of the future health of the walleye population. Got to love the jig bite……

That’s some seriously cool paint on those jigs!  Do they make them in “happy” or just “mad”? 😉

At the Hwy 6 access on the west side.  In the willows on the south side of the access.  Full blown easy chair.   You found a commode on Big Rice?  It might be handy to know that is. 😉

Long tails on Shags?  That’s interesting.  I’ve never heard that was a thing.  Are they calendar birds?   They are still on my list.

I got some micro plastics for my 2 mm jigs but I am looking for custom color combinations in 1/1.5 inch long plastics. I did get a thing of jigs and tell if you can figure out the team they represent.

Took Finn over to my dad’s pond and there was one beautiful drake wood-duck on the far end of the pond. It flew off but we waited to see if any came back Saturday night.
