Winter-killed lakes in the Arrowhead

Recommended Posts

I just returned from a walleye trip to the Arrowhead. Our favorite lake appeared empty. No other fishermen, and no fish. (We usually catch 60 or more walleye per day). This lake is a shallow bowl and heavily weeded and we suspect that it might have winter killed. We also think that the recent rains may have flushed out a tremendous amount of tannin from the swamps, thereby dropping the pH enough to put the walleyes in a funk. Has anybody else encountered similar conditions in the past week or so?
