How is it with the high water?

Anyone been out there this weekend? I think I am going to head out tomorrow and see how the high water is affecting the fishing.

Biggest concern is debris in the water, lots of stuff floating?

It is not bad, not that much floating debris. Only real issue is that the river is in a No Wake restriction so it takes a while to get where you want to fish. All the islands are under water and the river is out of its banks. I fished last night and you could here a lot of splashing up in that drowned shoreline timber. I was chasing cats and ended up getting skunked. River crested today and has already started a slow drop. Looks like the river level forecast has us under No Wake through at least next weekend.

Thanks Steve. I appreciate the report, sorry the cats weren't more cooperative for you. I typically love fishing right after the crest nod the spring high water levels on the 'sippi, hopefully it will be decent out there tomorrow.

Pretty busy, or are a lot of the pleasure boaters not out... ? Or am I hoping for too much. Thanks

The Pleasure Boaters were out but with the No Wake they are not a problem. What I found interesting is that the Big Boats were all putt putting at No Wake and the only boats I saw that were running full out were fishing boats. Seems like some of the fishing boat operators don't have the patience to run at No Wake speed.

I kind of like the No Wake rule - it was kind of nice to see the river recreation slowed down and people just enjoying the peace and quiet. It won't last long and the summer river traffic will be back at its hectic pace.
