I am looking at buying a 1700 Superhawk and my first question is does anyone have one and do you like it? Also I was looking at Crystal Pierz in Crystal. Has anyone had any bad experiences there or are there any dealers in the metro area to recommend? I dont want to travel a long ways to look at boats. I do live in Montrose, so St. Cloud would be about as far west I would go or anywhere in the city.

Crystal Pierz Marine in Maple Lake carries Crestliner. I had a friend that just bought the same boat from them and was very happy with the service and sales.

I have a 1700 superhawk with a 90 merc on it!
I like the entire unit! Alot of space considering its size! Pushes real easy and planes like a rocket!
2-guys and all the gear I can run 42 mph on the gps and with 4-guys your still looking at 35mph! Not bad for a 90hp! Only complaint I have is the narrow gunnells! Their great being you gain alot of space but they are a pain for rigging anything on the sides!

Do you have a 2 stroke or a four stroke? I was thinking of upgrading to the 115 four stroke. I will be using the boat to do skiing and tubing also, so I was thinking I need a little more power. It does sound like though you have enough power with the 90.

I have the 2-stroke! I can jerk out any size person skining or tubing without ant hesitation! I am also proped right which is a big bonus! Most dealers never sell the right prop for the boat/motor!
I looked at 4-stroke but at the time the price was to high to gain any benefits. Yes a 4 stroke would be nice but I can't say I have ever kicked myself for buying the 2-stroker. I guess yes you may gain a little on top end with the 115 but your probably only looking at maybe what 3-4 MPH if really lucky 5. I also have ran against the s ame boat with the 115 and yes he pulls away but at a slow pace and only gets a little bit ahead. I guess the thing to look at is this boat weather being a 90 or 115 its still gonna only be a 45 mph boat at very best. If you want speed step up to the 1750 fishhawk with a 150, then your talking 55-60 mph. Also max horspower on 1750 is only 140 now.

The thing about c restliners is they push really easy. Also the deadrise on the 1700 superhawk is so mininmal so it realy goes.

THanks Chode, I am going tomorrow to look at them closely and try to do some dealing. My wife likes the Lund 1700 fisherman. So we will have to decide which is the best deal. The Lund is a little more. We will see though.

Please, before you make a purchase from that dealer, drop me a line. I bought that same boat from that same dealer last year, I think you would find my experience very interesting. I have decided to use my boat this year yet and then buy something next spring. The more I have been looking at boats though I think I am now going to go with a Lund 1700 fisherman. Thanks for all your help.

I have had some dealings with Minnesota Marine in Ham Lake and they were very good to deal with. As for the boat it has been great once I got the all the bugs resolved. I wished I had bought a 4-stroke motor but I went with the 2-stroke.

You will not be disappointed in your Lund decision. Nothing against Crestliner, just have a Lund myself and absolutely love it. Bought my most recent one at Pierz actually.

      Thanks, I'm riding this now "TW200 pictuer wouldn't post" so not sure I can get on any of the ATV trails. Might have to sled by in the winter! 👍

      There are actually 3 tree carvings on the trail from Soudan to Ely.  I saw 2 of them but missed the 3rd.  I believe that trail is the Prospector Trail #4 or #6.  You have to start from the parking lot on the Murray Road 2 miles past Soudan since several property owners on the old railroad bed didn't allow off-road vehicles on their properties.  Another option is to travel from Tower to Embarrass then on to Ely, but that adds a couple hours to the trip.

      The colors are getting good. Beautiful time of year. Maples are full red and birch and aspen are going too.  I’m not finding a formula for walleyes. Best luck when fishing saddles and shoreline drop offs 10’ down to 20’. I’m using old crawlers, too, because a) it’s hard to find minnows although Northwoods in Cook has them and b) it’s been too warm to keep them alive.  We do have a change in weather happening right now. Wind is coming up and the temperature is dropping. It’s going to be hard to fish Saturday through Monday but the change could be good after that.  Good luck, you’ll need some. They are out there and you’ll get dinner but you’ll have to work for them. RLG

      Some more heavily fished lakes are tough ALL season.  Lake Minnetonka and Mille Lacs come to mind.  The water is clear, there are tournaments all the time, and the fish are not easy to catch.   That is why I focus my efforts on lakes with less pressure.

      Was up Tuesday and Wednesday this week for a UHV ride to Ely.  Made it out fishing for a few hours those days.  Walleye bite for me was fairly slow but I was only using leftover crawlers.  Most others I saw were using minnows so maybe they were having better luck.  Fall colors should be at peak on Vermilion.  Weather doesn't look the greatest however. Good luck and enjoy the fall season on the lake.
