Water Level???

Recommended Posts

mlvaj

With all the rain we had this past week, how is the water level around the wabasha area? Haven't been out since last month and just wanted to know if I should even bother coming down to fish. I don't do well on pool 4 when the water level is high. Fish are more scattered and I'm not good at finding them.

I was wondering the same thing! For a majority of last summer, the landings in Pepin were tricky due to the high water, and quite a few of the rock piers were nearly under water...but there wasn't much debris and clarity was fine. A few friends were planning on making the trip on Friday morning down toward the Stockholm/Pepin area, but I am concerned that the debris and clarity may make a trolling bite non-existant. Any thoughts?

I know the water is up a foot or 2. A buddy was out yesturday and lots of weeds, sticks and logs are floating around so be careful. Fishing is tough. Trolling deep (18'-22') is working but lots of small ones. Nothing between 10'-16 fow.

Water is up near the Winona area. Jig & leech produced walleyes from shore this afternoon near rock and sand bottoms.

did a little trolling yesterday out of pepin city. water is really high. had to wade thru the water up over your knees to get out to the dock.

caught a variety of fish, around 20. mostly smaller fish.
