Chumba

Back to the drawing board after another weekend of searching. Ive seen all the Craug list houses.

If anyone has any info on a Skid house around 8X14 - 10x16 in the $1500-2000 range let me know. jmbirke3m at hotmail dot com

(Figured i would start another thread on this)

Chumba, Just trying to be helpful, so please accept this with that in mind....As for searching, have you called resorts directly and asked what they have for sale? (This time of year they can be hard to reach...but they also might know of clients looking to sell now that season is done.) Also, from my view, I think you will be very lucky to find a quality house at this size for the price range you list. However, some sellers also can be very eager to deal this time of year because they don't want to sit with the house until late summer/fall - the prime time to buy. In short, if you see a more expensive house listed, check it out and make an offer. All they can say is "no." Good luck!

Thanks. I have done some of that. I have not called all of them. I got out this weekend and drove through some lots on the lake, checked out a bunch for sale, and not for sale just to get a idea of what I am looking at. I know the price range is low, but if i find the right person looking to sell... I am fully aware it would need work. I just want sound foundation.

As an example there is one on Craug list at the red door with metal skids 8X12, open on the inside, only $500. Im tempted, but really want something bigger.

Imho,I would go with a 10 foot minimum width. The extra room is nice for four or more in a larger house. Some of the resorts don't like medal skids..........they seem to tear up and move bridges from time to time.c63

Nothing wrong with having a 8 x 12. It just all depends on how you lay it out. That's what I have been fishing out of for the past 20 years. The resorts love smaller houses also. I only was charged 1/2 the going rate for having my house moved to different spots cause it was so easy for them to pull mine. I also got on the ice a week or 2 earlier than the bigger houses. full-38115-18341-oldoffcaitlinsphone1103 Here is my house out on 8" of ice. When I was at Twin Pines they would pull it out on 6" with a wheeler.

If you go less than 10ft wide you will regret it!!! There are plenty of 10x16 houses out there in that price range. Rememeber you may spend several DAYS at a time in this house. Nothing worse than a small dank house. depressing.....Big windows are also a big plus.

Anyone know when the antlerless permit come out?  We hunt 169 and only 500 are to be issued this year, getting a little curious. It's been a tough hunt the last few years.

no, but you can party hunt with your buddy and shoot a buck if he has a tag and says ok. strange state.

I believe you also cannot buy a bonus antlerless tag until you purchase a normal deer license.  Not that you would want to, but I don't think you even can.

I had a tremendous pheasant season last year in the east-central zone.  When I was turkey hunting this spring, I still saw a lot of them.  That was before the reproductive cycle in June.  I think its going to be gangbusters this season once the crops are gone.
