How is the ice doing in the area.

Recommended Posts

In the lengby area.. Island lake has anywhere from 13" to 15" and I suppose it's getting thicker as I'm typoing this. THe next couple of days will be good for making ice. What are the conditions on the bigger lakes around the Bemidji area?

Ice is in good shape. Plantan has 13-16 inches. Bemidji had 15 inches where I was fishing before this cold snap. Full size trucks driving all over on both lakes.

I measured close to 17" of ice under my shack yesterday with fresh cuts. I expect about 24" of ice out there today when I stroll out... Burr... we've got to be making some ice in a hurry right now!

That's a good thing though, I was really getting worried about the ice. I see a lot of guys driving out pulling their big shacks. I was thinking, man with this weather we have been dealing with the ice has to be getting weaker and one of these days someone is going to fall through.

This cold snap will help set my mind at ease.
