H20 not reading card

fishnhuntnboy

Question

I have an h2o that has not been reading the card. It use to work on and off at times. Is the sd card just bad or is the unit just not reading it and going bad? I'm not sure on how old the unit it is or the card. I have had it for a few years now. Also if I do buy a new card is there a certain year that I have to buy? I've heard the new ones won't work in them. Also just thinking is there a thing I have to do for the h2o to read the card or does it do it automatically?

Thanks for any info

If you can get your hands on another card that would be a good way to test it. Another option and it is what I have to do to my H2O is to fold a piece of paper and put it on top of the card and turn the card keeper knob. It seems like it needs a little more pressure in order to read.

Thanks for the info Jim. I did the paper trick and it worked but then the card stopped reading. And now when it reads it the gps freezes and then restarts itself and won't read the card. I still have to find a different card and try it to make sure it's not a bad card

This happened on my LMS520. I called Lowrance and they told me to take a pencil eraser and take the card out, use the eraser on the gold strips.

Did it and it worked. Might work for you.

Reddog usually when I plug in it works. I did go to browse mmc card and it doesn't read anything.

Score I will give that a shot and see what happens. I'm also gonna see if I can borrow a different card from a buddy and see if it works

I did the eraser part and then stuck a piece of plastic inbetween the card and the clip and it now works! The unit doesn't freeze any more and works like it should! Thanks for the help everyone.

There are still some Lakemaster cards on the market that fit the H20 but it is getting less every day.

If you are wanting another, I would start to look as soon as possible. I would check the big online auction site also as I have seen a few there.

They are making no more for the Lowrance units. I believe they are now making cards for the Bird units only.
