Which Lake tomorrow?

I am a student at UMD and unfamiliar with the area. Should I try Fish, Rice, Island, or a different lake tomorrow evening? I just have my car up here unfortunately. So lakes without a plowed road or a real long walk from the landing will be difficult. Looking for some panfish or eyes. wouldn't mind snagging a snake either. Any helpful pointers would be much appreciated!

Call Hi-Banks at Fish Lake. Of course no ice is ever safe, but people have been driving out of there for a while now. Your car will do fine as there really isn't any snow to speak of. Stop by and they'll tell you how to get to a community whole. Otherwise you can go to the Public Landing which is a couple of miles past Hi-banks. You won't be able to drive out from there, but you can fish right off of shore. Just look for the big group of houses, and STAY AWAY from the dam. Fishing has been pretty good with crappies and sunnies, and a whole load of small perch.

That sounds good. I am familiar with Hi banks. I chatted with the owner when I was looking for a duck hunting spot, very nice gentlemen. Any walleyes out there?
