Pickerel and Long by Clear Lake

Can you access these lakes and where? It says there is a access owned by a township on Long so I would assume you could get on, but when I went by there in early December I could not find anywhere to get on, maybe I didn't look hard enough.

I went out to check those lakes a couple years ago. I found accesses to Long and Round lake. I believe the Long lake one was gated off if I remember correctly and the Round lake access was a private on.

Both are private access lakes. They are part of a HO association that maintains the access. I would just park outside the locked access and carry my ice gear in. It's not too far.

I would be careful of that though. There are lots of no parking signs along the road and in front of the acess and the County Mounty is no stranger out there...been nabbed on that before.

My in-laws live on long. They gave us their key for the access. However the gates had just been replace and instead of a lock they were zip-tied together. We parked on the street and didn't have trouble.

I don't have any real winter experience on the lake. I have pulled some nice bass and a couple of crappies off Long in the summer though.

OK. Here's the scoop. DO NOT PARK BY THE ACCESS OR ALONG ANY PART OF THE ROADS GOING AROUND THE LAKE!!!! There is an unposted "DNR canoe access point" on the North end of Long Lake. There is a yellow minimum maintenance road sign. This minimum maintenance road is non-existent. It IS a parking "spot". Enough for about 2 cars. It looks like a driveway or land owned by the home on the left if you are looking at the lake. I found this out many years ago when trying to find it to put in my canoe. The man in the house on the right informed me of this when I asked where the DNR canoe access is. He told me I was standing on it...haha. The people who live on this lake watch over it very well. Good luck if you go. Make sure you look at a lake map. Depending on where you try to fish you will get frustrated trying to find deep water on long....I have never done very well ice fishing there, but there are some fish. I also have never traveled very far across the lake either....
