Fish Trap Pro

Would like to hear some comments from some owners of this model. I will be walking this out and carrying a vex, auger/spud, bucket with rods etc. Will this have ample room for this and also be roomy enough to jig fish with 36" to 42" rods? How about room for a Mr. Buddy portable heater? Could I find a good sale on them at the end of the season?

I think the pro will be to small for all your gear. I have the guide and love it I have all the room I need, and if I take someone out two guys can fish together. I also have the mr heater and I keep it on low, this throws out all the heat I need. I also haul this thing around in a ford escort.

I looked at the pro and the guide before I bought my Guide. I went to the ice fishing show to purcase a pro and my buddy who was with me went there to purchase a voyager. We both ended up buying the guide and neither one of us regret it. the best thing about the extra sled length is that an auger will fit down inside the sled. It is only an extra foot or so longer and does not add very much more weight to the unit. Just my opinion.

I have a fish trap pro and have no problems getting all my gear in the sled. I dont bring a bucket no more because there is a spot under the seat that I put rods tackle box and 1lb tanks. I use a small cooler for a minnow bucket and also get my buddy heater in the sled and the vex. the auger will hang out a bit. as far as room for 36"to42"rods I cant help you out there dont know if it would be enough room.

Rod length I don't suspect will be an issue with the pro, there is plenty of room from your seat forward to the door on those.

I decided to pay the xtra $100 for the guide... The main reason was that I wanted the auger and gear to fit nicely into the sled... I have my auger and gear all bungied in and I just pull it all out of my truck as is and I'm ready to go... I think the xtra storage space is worth the xtra $100... The weight and size is pretty manageable... Lifting in and out of your car is the only real issue, it slides very easy... You can fish 2 with the guide if you choose as well which is bonus.

I hear ya bigger is usually better. I noticed that on the USL website that the Guide is actually only 3" longer, 78" versus 81". The Guide is quite a bit wider with the second seat in there, but I am wondering if it would benefit me as I would always fish in it alone. Does the second seat help with storage or anything other than a place to sit for another person? It just seems to close for 2 in my opinion. Also, the Guide at 62 lbs. seems a bit heavier than I want to throw in the truck compared to the 47lbs. of the Pro. Thanks for the feedback, I sure don't want to get something I will end up not happy with.

I bought a Pro from Reeds at the ice show in Dec. It carries all of my gear -Vex, pwr auger, Croxton Pond, propane, a case of Almond Joy candy bars, etc. I bought the Pro because I fish solo (don't need to lug any extra weight), and it fits in the back of my mini van.

eyeless, I think you would probably be happy with either model, I am sure I would have been. I sat in both of them and I am 6-5 300 lbs and I was comfy in either one. I am happy with my choice though because it is still easy to load in the truck, even when most of the gear is in there, and I have managed to fill most of the sled up with gear, dont know where I would have put the stuff in the pro, but probably would have found a way. The best thing I like though is that when I am roaming the lage I dont have to strap the auger, I can just put it in the sled and go.
As far as the seat goes I leave my second seat at home and put the one I have in the middle. I guess I just like the extra room.

I have the Trap II, forerunner of the Guide. I almost alway am the only one fishing in it, and it still feels a little crowded sometimes. The extra space makes a big difference.
