lookin for directions to pine island from warroad, what resort do u drive out of, and how bout directions on the ice

Pine Island is out from Wheelers Point. The point is where the Rainy River comes into the lake. Adrians Resort maintains the road from Wheelers Point, with an access fee of $5. You need to go North from Baudette, on the west side by the airport, sorry I don't remember the county road #. Follow that approx 10 miles and it will bring you right to Wheelers Point. Adrians resort will be on the right side, watch for the sign. They should be able to give you some information on the bite. You can also access them on Resort Locator above and call ahead for conditions. Good luck and hang on. Bill

You want Hwy 172 at the west edge of Baudette. That will take you all the way out to Adrians & the access.
Saw your snow condition ? We got 3 or 4 inches today. Came down calm & kinda wet so should stay put as it gets colder.
Good Luck!

mink,
are you taking the bronson boyz with you?
anyway, take 11 to Warroad and head east on 11,
about three miles out of Warroad turn left on county road 12,
head east about 8miles,
then turn right on county road 17,
about two miles south, and then turn left on county road 8, now straight ahead till you hit 172, and then turn left and go about 1/4 mile and turn right into Adrains. But rememberyou will be driving right past Zipple Bay, Morris Point, Cyrus, Walleye Retreat and others before getting to 172. Zipple and Morris have plowed roads so if you plan on fishing with your own setup these would work also, and with the new ownership at Morris, would be a good place to go,a little closer for you and you don't have to drive across the bay and over the island. Just some thoughts. And if you take the bboyz watch out for wild fishing stories grin.gif
and remember all northerns between 30 and 40 inches have to be released, with only one per person over 40 daily.(the bboyz are good for catching them over 50)

Made a quick trip before the weekend rush on Vermilion. Ice was in very good condition. Didn't see any slush or water on any of the roads out from McKinley Park. There are plowed roads on both side of the staked snowmobile trail coming out from the landing. The road to the left goes out toward Birch Island, and there is a spur road going to the left (west) a couple hundred yards out. The road on the right side goes out toward Ely Island. There is a short spur road going east about half mile out. The water came up under my fish house about another 1½ inches when I drilled my holes. Looks like I will be going back up early next week to block my house up higher. The small amount of new snow is really drifting up and adding weight. You may get water on the ice, or find slush if you drill holes in new areas. There is about 15% bare ice where the wind has blown it off. Many of the drifts are very high and hard, so you could get stuck on them. Fishing was average. Best bites were from 9-10am and 11-1230 when I quit. Biggest walleyes was only 16¼", then the next biggest was 13.75". Reporting lengths in quarter inches because I can't seem to find any big walleyes. Good luck fishing, be careful driving around, and be courteous to others.
