DId anyone you go sink a line out of Long Point today(12-6)?We were out at Zipple and when we got back to Baudette we heard that there was a crack out by Long Point.Rumor we heard that there was alot of people stranded on the other side and the DNR where looking for a hovercraft to get them.Last we heard a boat was getting the people of the ice.I don't want to start a scare but was curious if any of this was true.
By the way we limited out on bucket sized eyes(12-16").We had a few decent sauger in the same size too. One big pout that made a mess of things also.Didn't get on the ice till 11:00 and slow till 2:00pm,then the bite was on.
Maybe go again tomorrow.Good Luck sinking those lines.

It is not a rumor. I spoke with Kelly by phone last night and he said a crack 200 yards wide opened up in front of their resort. About fifty fishermen were stranded on the outside of the crack and were picked up by boat. Thankfully no one fell in or was hurt. It took about 10 minutes for the crack to widen that far. Bummer!!

guess we won't be heading over there tuesday, we were going to try long point for a couple of days, tuesday and wednesday, glad everyone made it off ok, what about all there equipment? 4-wheelers, snowmobiles, portables?

Talked to the Resort this afternoon. The crack is still there. They are hoping for a NW wind to help push it closed. It didn't effect Zipple or the West side of the Twin Islands. They ended up leaving some equipment (4-wheelers etc...) on the other side. Hurry up NW wind and cold weather!

Anybody getting any fish by Twin Islands? I will be there Dec 18-22. I am fishing out of Arnesens and was wondering how the bite was???

Spoke with Kelly this evening, the ice thickness on the crack is 6-7 inches. They are crossing with ATV's & snowmobiles. Fishing has been good.
