I've heard some discussion fo few FM'ers that will be out on LOW this weekend. I thought maybe some of us could get together, meet, and fish for a few hours. We could meet somewhere off of Pine Island and chase some fish toghether. Anyone interested?
Fisherdog

Fisherdog, Right now I'm thinking of going for the weekend. Leave WI. tommorrow night and arrive at LOTW for Sat. morning. It will be me and 1 other friend. My problem(?) right now is that I never fished LOTW and this came about suddenly. Without a 4 wheeler or snowmobile to haul out my gear, I would be stuck dragging it out by hand. Are trucks going out? I'm thinking of staying till Monday, hitting Red also for the night bite crappies. If I go out of Rogers, it's still a 1 mile hike out. Arrrgh, I don't know what to do!! confused.gif
------------------
http://groups.msn.com/canitbeluck

I think you can rent snowmobiles in or around Baudette. Dragging a shack out onto LOW does not paint a very nice picture in my mind. I woud not even consider doing it on Red. Just my $.02.

Hunt,
Stop by my shack on Thursday on your way out and grab a couple walleyes. (Just in case you have a little trouble catching 'em) tongue.gif
See you next week if not before.
-Tim
Just thought I would give you a little guff!!

I suppose you will give me the two that you carry around in your sled all winter. You know, the ones you always lay outside your shack to make people think you actually catch some. Oh, by the way, I was kidding. That fish you asked me about but weren't able to identify wasn't a Walleye. It is actually called a Burbot or Elpout. wink.gif just kidding. See ya up there.

FYI - Burbot is NOT what you fill your glass with for breakfast every morning . grin.gif
See you on Thursday. I'll have the radio on. Sounds like it's gonna be a cold one.

A glass!!!! Come on Hammer...you know it's a mug. Yup. should be good. I will give you a shout when we get out there. Most likely around noon on Thursday.

I will be up out of Morris Point in 18-24 ft of water on Sunday morning. Look for a green 4-wheeler and black portable. There will also be a small white portable and a couple others with us.
Woodman
[This message has been edited by woodman (edited 12-09-2003).]

Made a quick trip before the weekend rush on Vermilion. Ice was in very good condition. Didn't see any slush or water on any of the roads out from McKinley Park. There are plowed roads on both side of the staked snowmobile trail coming out from the landing. The road to the left goes out toward Birch Island, and there is a spur road going to the left (west) a couple hundred yards out. The road on the right side goes out toward Ely Island. There is a short spur road going east about half mile out. The water came up under my fish house about another 1½ inches when I drilled my holes. Looks like I will be going back up early next week to block my house up higher. The small amount of new snow is really drifting up and adding weight. You may get water on the ice, or find slush if you drill holes in new areas. There is about 15% bare ice where the wind has blown it off. Many of the drifts are very high and hard, so you could get stuck on them. Fishing was average. Best bites were from 9-10am and 11-1230 when I quit. Biggest walleyes was only 16¼", then the next biggest was 13.75". Reporting lengths in quarter inches because I can't seem to find any big walleyes. Good luck fishing, be careful driving around, and be courteous to others.
