Thats what I told her, "You got an extra $1,000 laying around. (we would need 4 seats.) We'll just tailgate at home and watch on tv, just a slightly cheaper night.

The kids loved the jet flying over after the National Anthem.

Go Pack!

They said in the pregame that the Packers have won 13 world championships. That is a lot.

How many have the Vikings won? 6? 7?

I wonder if the defenses are going to settle down and play ball in the second half. My heart hasn't stopped racing yet! GO PACK!!!

The Claymaker with a crushing, blindside hit to end the game.

The Packers are fortunate they have an offense because their secondary is horrible.

They beat an excellent passing offense. I'll take that to start the season. Plenty of work to be done moving forward, for sure.

Meanwhile, uh, REALITY CHECK! I think 1-0 beats hell out of 0-1. smile

Either we were looking at 2 terrible secondaries or 2 rediculous pass offenses.

I'm thinking a combination of both.

Yep. The Vikings only have three days left of having an undefeated record.

Who?

I was talking about my team, the Packers. The Vikes don't even enter into the equation but for twice during the season. wink

What a game, hope Tramon's injury isnt anything serious?

Regardless, if the Pack stay healthy I really dont see anybody stopping their offense. The secondary will come around - they were going against one of the best QB's in the game.

[PoorWordUsage] call on Hawk at the end,but followed by a sweet goaline stop by everybody.

If they would have played the Vikings tonight, they score 60....EASY. haha

1-0!! GO PACK!

Great game but I'd rather see the Packers just put them away and not have to come down to the last second. Phew!!!

I've been searching for news on Tramon but haven't found much yet, I'm sure we'll hear more later today. The only thing I did find was this:

Packers' Tramon Williams in post-game pain

September, 9, 2011

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- I just returned from the Green Bay Packers locker room to see that many of you are looking for an update on cornerback Tramon Williams, who departed the game late in the fourth quarter with a right shoulder injury.

WilliamsCoach Mike McCarthy didn't have much new information on the injury, and Williams said that the team's medical staff didn't give him a final diagnosis. But it's worth noting that Williams was walking in the locker room in the same pose he left the field in: Slowly, gingerly and with his left hand holding his right arm in place.

There's no sense speculating on what type of injury Williams has and how serious it might be. All we can say is that he was in significant pain when he left the field and that pain hadn't subsided by the time he got to the locker room. As always, stay tuned.

I thought Jarrid Bush did okay filling in inspite of the fact he's been kind of a whipping boy by some fans.

Really good game to open the season. The pack looked great and will not lose very many games this year. The Saints looked tough as well. Sproles had a great game to keep the saints in it but the Packs Defense was just better. It would be fun to see these guys meet again in the playoffs. On a side note kicking off from the 35 is just stupid. Gonna be very few run backs this year.

Both D's looked very sluggish to me, but of course both of those offenses will do that to them. Good win, and they very well could meet in the playoffs. Fun game to watch!!

How about Cobb's 100+ TD return!!!!! All the receivers looked good, except we didn't see much from James Jones. Grant looked pretty average, Starks definitely looked like the better back. Not sure why they aren't letting Alex Green be the 3rd down back, must not have the blitz pickup down yet.

A little concerned about the pass rush, just didn't seem to put a lot of pressure on Brees unless they blitzed. Did Mike Neal play? He's suppose to be the pass rush DE replacement for Jenkins.

I knew the defense would be pretty poor in this game for both teams, I just didn't think it would be THAT bad (I had the Pack winning 31-24 on the board at work). I was a little surprised by the last play by the Saints. As bad as they made the Packers look on the previous touchdown, I thought for sure they would have had another misdirection play called up for that situation.

its a W and im happy with that, there 2 min defense was horrible and i thought that call on Hawk was a close one contact yes, but he pretty much jumped over him. Dom will get them dialed in just a warm up game.

Luck is good......after losing some real close games last year where luck was not on their side...I'll take it.

Thanks LMITOUT. And in case you haven't realized this, the Packers currently have the best record in the NFL. Home field advantage baby!!! grin

FYI ~

Tramon Williams has bruised shoulder

Packers coach Mike McCarthy said cornerback Tramon Williams has a shoulder bruise, which he termed a positive medical development.

Williams injured his shoulder after colliding with teammate Nick Collins during Thursday night’s game against New Orleans.

McCarthy wouldn’t say for sure, but seemed to indicate that Williams’ injury won’t keep him out for an extended period of time.

They looked pretty potent on offense. I wouldn't be surprised to see them go undefeated and set both the single season points total and the single season passing yards/TD's records this year.

I know it is real easy to be an Armchair coach/qb... but...

I was on the couch with a bowl of cereal for the last play and nearly choked before they snapped the ball - I thought to myself, they are going to run and the Pack, er um... the whole free world knows it... eek

Very low, probably 2 feet lower than last year at ice out.

what do they look like this spring?

I might have missed a guess, but here are the ones that I noted:   JerkinLips – March 27th, then April 7th Brianf. – March 28th Bobberwatcher – April…. MikeG3Boat – April 10th SkunkedAgain – early April, then April 21st   Definitely a tough year for guesses, as it seemed to be a no-brainer early ice out. Then it got cold and snowed again.

So, that was you in the camo lund? I'm bummed, I have to head back to the cities tomorrow for a few days, then back up for at least a few weeks. Got the dock in and fired up to get out chasing some crappies till opener!

On the south end...   Lots of ice on the main basin, but it is definitely deteriorating.  Some anglers have been fishing the open water at the mouth of the Rainy River in front of the Lighthouse Gap.  The rest of the basin is still iced over. Pike enthusiasts caught some big pike earlier last week tip up fishing in pre-spawn areas adjacent to traditional spawning areas.  8 - 14' of water using tip ups with live suckers or dead bait such as smelt and herring has been the ticket.  Ice fishing for all practical purposes is done for the year. The focus for the basin moving forward will be pike transitioning into back bays to spawn,  This is open water fishing and an opportunity available as the pike season is open year round on Lake of the Woods. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. With both the ice fishing and spring fishing on the Rainy River being so good, many are looking forward to the MN Fishing Opener on Saturday, May 11th.  It should be epic. On the Rainy River...  An absolutely incredible week of walleye and sturgeon fishing on the Rain Rainy River.     Walleye anglers, as a rule, caught good numbers of fish and lots of big fish.  This spring was one for the books.   To follow that up, the sturgeon season is currently underway and although every day can be different, many boats have caught 30 - 40 sturgeon in a day!  We have heard of fish measuring into the low 70 inch range.  Lots in the 60 - 70 inch range as well.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  Open water is continuing to expand in areas with current.  The sight of open water simply is wetting the pallet of those eager for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th.   A few locals were on the ice this week, targeting pike.  Some big slimers were iced along with some muskies as well.  If you like fishing for predators, LOW is healthy!
    • Brianf.
Early bird gets the worm some say...   I have it on good authority that this very special angler caught no walleyes or muskies and that any panfish caught were released unharmed.
