Thanks Bucks and Ducks and Boener (tee hee)<P>Up around the lake KQ92 out of Warroad is<BR>pretty huge. I dont think they spend near<BR>enough time on the weather or on fishing<BR>for a station on the worlds greatest lake<BR>but they are a very good station.<P>I wish our signals got up into that area a<BR>little better, we are marginal at best.<P>KKAQ AM 1460 and KKDQ FM 99.3 are in Thief<BR>River Falls 90 miles away from Warroad.<P>Lake of the Woods is the preferred distination for a great percentage of our<BR>area anglers and I cant say as I blame them.<P>Justin is solid gold for me, people trust<BR>what he says because he will say if fishing<BR>sucks and where it sucks. He also loves the<BR>"new" stuff, he gets it quick and uses everything himself. He will be guiding with<BR>snowmobiles and portables this winter.<P>I have several very good people on my fishin<BR>show. I dont claim to know near enough to<BR>carry the thing on my own. This year Chip<BR>Leer and Tommy Skarlis have been added as<BR>weekly regulars. These guys really have alot<BR>to say, both make 100 percent of their livings in the fishing industry so they know<BR>there stuff.<P>Johnny Candle is back from Devils Lake<BR>Paul Rohweller tells us about Detroit Lakes<BR>and Ottertail<BR>The great one Mark Bieganek keeps track of<BR>Red Lake Crappies.(Baitco is his FM handle)<BR>These guys are the show, I just try to keep<BR>my eyes open for big fish or other newsy type stuff of interest.<P><BR>The winter show runs till March 13th<P>Listen in if you can.<P><BR>------------------<BR>Curt Quesnell<BR>NorthCountry Outdoors Radio<p>[This message has been edited by curt quesnell (edited 12-02-2003).]

Made a quick trip before the weekend rush on Vermilion.  Ice was in very good condition.  Didn't see any slush or water on any of the roads out from McKinley Park.  There are plowed roads on both side of the staked snowmobile trail coming out from the landing.  The road to the left goes out toward Birch Island, and there is a spur road going to the left (west) a couple hundred yards out.  The road on the right side goes out toward Ely Island.  There is a short spur road going east about half mile out.   The water came up under my fish house about another 1½ inches when I drilled my holes.  Looks like I will be going back up early next week to block my house up higher.  The small amount of new snow is really drifting up and adding weight.  You may get water on the ice, or find slush if you drill holes in new areas.  There is about 15% bare ice where the wind has blown it off.  Many of the drifts are very high and hard, so you could get stuck on them.   Fishing was average.  Best bites were from 9-10am and 11-1230 when I quit.  Biggest walleyes was only 16¼", then the next biggest was 13.75".  Reporting lengths in quarter inches because I can't seem to find any big walleyes.   Good luck fishing, be careful driving around, and be courteous to others.
