Landscapers in/around Duluth

Recommended Posts

We built a couple years ago (between Duluth and Two Harbors), and landscaping is on our to-do-list this year. The areas around the house and garage are still dirt from the construction, and we're looking forward to getting it cleaned up.

Basically, we want someone to come in with some dirt, slope it away from the foundations correctly, lay down some weed barrier and supply us with some rock, flat stones etc. We'd also be looking for some advice regarding bushes and other plantings.

I've been looking around, but I haven't come up with too many landscapers in the area. Does anyone know of a good, reputable company that could do this type of thing?

Thanks much for any info!

Try Cedar Drive Excavating - I know, they don't have 'landscaping' in their title, but they've done everything I've asked them to do and they're as honest as they come. And, they're located up the Jean Duluth Road, not too far from you.

Miller Creek has done some work for me. I had them do the base for a brick patio then I bricked it myself. They did excellent work. They are full service or will do what you want. All the plants and bushes I've purchased from them are appropriate for the cooler zone we live in and have all survived. One thing they consider is that northshore has some micro climates so good plant selection advice is important.

For what it sounds like you're looking for, try J&K Professional services. They operate out of their home on the Torgeson Rd between Duluth and Two Harbors. Owner Josh Saftner does a good job with the type of project you described.

For a bigger project, I was happy with Z.R. Ziemske Landscaping out of Duluth, did a large rock project for me, also in the phone book. Easy to work with, and a really good group of guys.

Superior Landscape Contractors from Lake Nebagamon is another good guy. Give Kent Paulson a call at 715-374-3653.

Kent does a lot of work for the Mn and WI DOT's, as well as residential and commercial landscaping.

Being in the construction mngt business, I know a few different lanscaping companies that I have dealt with on a somewhat regular basis. Kent Paulson from Superior Landscaping is a good start, they are a smaller outfit that is capable of doing big projects as well. I worked with them on the Northwestern High School Project out here in Wisconsin. Others to consider would be AJ's, Engwall, Ground level services, Missinne, Northern lights,

Good Luck!

Thanks for all the info guys! I had a couple of these folks on my list from prior research, and I'll be sure to give these others a call too. With all this snow, maybe we'll be ready to do this project around August! smile

Thanks again!

Northern Lights Landscaping is another one to throw on the list. They are located in Duluth and do great work. I worked for them for a couple summers and I was always impressed with the operation they ran. Ask for Tom if you call him.
