Is there any ice fishing to be had down that way? Possibly accessing by foot from the park on the MN side on hwy 10?

There are people out there, if they're catching fish, that I don't know.

Be careful if you go out there!

I have ice fished there a few times in the past, and have caught a few fish. Not sure if it is worth the drive. Be SUPER careful out there if you go-the ice varies wildly in thickness. You would be better off going around Bayport with a snowmobile and checking out spots that normally never get hit if you are looking for something out of the norm, but be careful there as well.

Went out by Prescott last Sunday and caught 2 small saugers. Had multiple fish come though and check out what I was offering and missed a couple of hookups. Fished plastics, jigging raps, and jigging spoons, because I forgot to bring minnows. The jigging raps and spoons produced nothing, no lookers even, all fish were caught on plastics. I setup away from the crowd in 26'.

My 11 and 13 year old boys would like us to try the St Croix this weekend. I've never fished it before and I'm thinking of going out near Prescott. Is there enough fish to keep them occupied? What would we expect to catch? I would assume crappie and fathead minnows and heads on jigs? I appreciate any help. We are well equiped for whatever, they are just sick of fishing the lakes around here this winter and want to try something new.

Thanks!

Greg
