Mille Lacs Pike

I am thinking of coming up in a couple weeks and trying for some pike with tip-ups. I have never fished here before for pike and would love it if someone could point me in the right direction as far as where to find them this time of year. I was thinking of trying some of the weeds in the SE corner of the lake, would that be a likely place to find them?

is wahkon bay any good for pike action like that? or would I be better off working other areas?

Don't be afraid to try shallow reefs where it drops into deep water. My buddy caugth a 41" 2 weekends ago fishing the deep water just off the reef.

In Wahkon Bay just to the west of the island is the "gator hole". I used to catch some very nice norderns there back in the 90s. We even had a small community of shacks dedicated to fishing for norderns. The mayor of our group was a giant red bearded guy called Pollock. We also hauled in a muskie or two.

I am also thinking about setting up in a hole up on the reefs.........were you on the break or the bottom of it?

We were set-up jsut off the reef. 18' of water with 9' within 15 yards.
