Any Trout reports from Big Watab?

Wow, is this lake dead? Or no ones fishing it? Or no ones talking?

Hasn't been alot of talk locally yet this yr about the trout fishing. I know this summer it was good. I know friends who got into them good at times out there. I talked to some guys I know who are spearing out there but unfortunately I don't know of the ice thickness. I would presume it's pretty thick after the temps we have been seeing.

Thanks icehawk, I haven't been on it for a few years but use to fish it a lot. I am going to have to get out there and try it again. It can be a tough lake to find them in the winter.

we fished it last weekend...there were people driving all over the place...even to the far end (which I thought was a little insane with the springs, etc.) The fishing was slow...we managed a few crappies, a few hammerhandles, and 0 trout....we do catch them regularly in the summer, but the winters are tough for trout (at least in our house)...

Man, is this lake just not worth talking about anymore? Or to good to say anything about? I haven't tried it in a few years but what the heck? Anything?

sorry leech....have no clue about the trout report, but you you have been persistent i only get out to the lake about once a year on open water and troll around for them. my guess is the lowly trout just does not get that much respect around here. also there is a very small put and take lake not too far from here that provides a better percentage of success.

was out on watab today, not for trout i was looking for crappies and was only there for a hour today but the ice was in good condition

Thanks guys. Not sure why I like fishing Trout so much? It maybe that they seem to be a bit more of a challenge then even Walleye? But they sure are pretty when you pull them up!
