Maki's old school, Tracy. I think he confuses that with Old Testament. Not surprising in a guy as old as Methuselah. gringringrin

Okay Foss (short for Fossil) laugh

Just for dissing me, I'm getting up at 7am, and immediately heading to the "Trough" gringrin

It'll be all yours, big guy. Stark's gotta go to the dentist, and I have a photo shoot. Knock 'em dead! smile

Andrusko: I wasn't saying "NO, don't fish it ever" when we talked about tying you up to a tree on Opener. I just wanted to be able to relax as the original two who found it. Like before. smile

Wanderer, I was just reassuring you and all others on the forum that when they take me to their Hot spots. I would never "trespass" back there without them along! wink So, bring on the Hot spots! grin

Bringing it back to actual fishing (you guys have been busy)...Made the last run of the year this weekend, that makes five this year, most ever. Hit one trout at 7PM Friday on a Buckshot. Pulled two up from tipups after dark. Slow on Saturday, think we missed three. Had one on for a few cranks of the reel before loosing it. That one hit at 6:45 PM on the Dr. Sunday as usual was an "up and go" day, before the sun get to high/warm.

That made the season total 15 for the two of us. And made the "Trout Dogs" true Ice Veterans! I expect to make the same progression with next years yearlings, now 10 months old.

Now its Turkey Time!

Here's my buddy with his first ever laker 20".

We spent Thurs-Sunday camping out in the woods, actually it was tenting on the ice for two of us. Nothing like the sounds and feel of groaning and popping ice to put ya to sleep every night. smile

I caught a 19"er, had one come unbuttoned and a couple of non-committal chasers. A good time was had by all.

Mike,

Don't take it personally, but you're a young kid and we need to start you out slowly!! laugh

Instead of the Ice Gator, I'm thinking more along the lines of an electric toothbrush gringringringrin

Go is flinging the shitzl left and right. That operation must have been a success.

But G.O. has to find someone to drill his holes for him now. The Ice Gator's electrical field will stop his new pacemaker. I'm thinking he should hire Stark at $5/hole. No, make that $20/hole. Jimmy only ever drills a couple holes in a day anyway, and that'd give Mike a chance to make a bit of $ while working into the manliest of augers gradually. gringrin

But remember, you guys still may meet each other around town. Be nice! grin

We meet each other around town quite frequently, as well as out on the ice. And this IS being nice! gringrin

I have been lurking on this thread all season with feelings of envy and jealousy. Work, weather and family committments have kept me away this year, until tomorrow! I will spend the last two days of the season on Burntside. Thanks to all for all the info, hope I have gleaned enough to catch a laker. I drive a green Toyota Tundra, hope I see some of you guys out there.

Boy, who the heck named it the "Maki Trough"? confusedconfusedwinkwink

Everyone knows how to get there. Just west of Makely on 169 you turn south on Cty Rd Maki, take that to Maki drive, turn left. It's only about a mile or so till you turn right into Makaccess. The drive down the hill will bring you out onto majestic Maki Lake (but it's got a burnt side to it and some use that as a nickname). Now you have the choice of fishing, er trespassing, on any trough, reef, island or point named Maki. They're super easy to find.

Just joshin your taters there Jim. laughlaugh

Those of you blessed enough to fish tomorrow - good luck!

That was good for some belly laughs, Tracy. Wish you were coming up for tomorrow. But I'll have fun even though you aren't. Wherever I fish, it'll be Makitastic. He DOES own the lake, after all, and has fished every single spot. gringringrin

Nobody with the nickname "Jaws," AKA Jim Maki, can keep a secret. I rest my case. wink

That may be, and I freely share many spots with those that ask. smile

But it's really hard to keep a secret spot when those that guide for lakers, have a team of bloodhounds seeking you out! wink

I definitely appreciate the spots you've shared with me over the years. Just for the record (Jim already knows this), that guide with bloodhounds is not me. I get "bloodhounded" a bit myself these days. smile

Last day of the season today! Probably see you out there, Jaws. No doubt I'll hear you before I see you, since the Maki Traki tends to announce its presence. gringrin

It was a great week to wrap up the best winter season in my eight so far on Bside. Averaged 1-2 fish per day this final week under gorgeous skies in excellent company. So, while the season didn't quite go out with a bang, nor did it go out with a whimper.

I wish it was Dec. 31, 2011 right now so all I'd have to do is charge the Vex and Ice Gator batteries to prep for tomorrow. As it is, oh well. C'mon May opener!!
