The panfish report in the area is going very good and the last week or so;it has really turned on. I have been working on a few lakes and getting good numbers, but nothing great in sizes. I have been averaging 15-25 crappies a night and the sizes are 7-9.5 inches. So, I have worked with a few guys to teach them how to lift crappies and they are amazed at the results.

Brandon one night told me that he would never have caught crappies without that method. I was really getting him ready for today. Today, I met up with Brandon and Travis to fish crappies in the snow. Snow,I am really sick of it, but the conditions were right today. After getting setup we punched 25 holes and started looking for the school of crappies, which we not disappointed. We marked fish right away and in ten minutes we had 9 on the ice.

We fished for the next two and half hours with non-stop action. Travis and Brandon were having a blast! We were using ratso's, fiskus, and nuggie tails to caught these beauty's today. All 30 crappies were 10.5-13" and were fishing them in 24FOW. Most of the crappies were 10ft up from the bottom and very active. The bait could not go down there fast enough and they raced up to get it.

The lake we fish is a good day bite and will continue until late ice. The conditions were rough, because there is so much snow. So walking out was hard but a good work out. Thanks guy's for a great day on the ice and look forward to the next time.

Chad, I noticed in a couple of pics of Travis the fly reel he was using, I saw this on one of the fishing shows a few weeks ago, and know a couple of the locals here are trying them. What kind of reel is that if you don't mind sharing the info...

I do not know the name, but it is the setup from thornebros. Travis just got it that day and he really liked it.
