Lake of the Woods Ice Fishing

Well what a weekend on beautiful Lake of the Woods! This was our groups 2nd Annual Trip out of a local Resort and what a great time we had. They really did a fantastic job and worked really hard to make sure there guest have fun and are catching fish. Spent the weekend with my good friends Skip, Chuck, and Lou. Friday we had to work really hard to catch fish but we ended up with a limit and had a awesome fish fry that evening at our cabin. The next morning we went out with high expectations of catching lots of fish and hopefully a big one.

After a short ride in the bombardier we were back in our warm fish house setting the hook on some eater walleye's and saugers.

Well around 10am my friend Lou says "Bobber Down"! and all heck broke loose This fish was 26 inches and weighed a little under 9lbs. It was a beautiful fish and the 2nd largest fish caught out of our resort all weekend (82 people fishing out of thier houses that weekend). Congratulations to Lou...That is a great looking fish!

We used alot of different lures but found that gold and glow red worked the best. Lindy's new Flyer tipped with a minnow head produced most of my fish. We were in 30fow and the biggest

fish came in suspended. It was important to use our electronics to see those high flying fish and the Marcum did a great job.

thanks for the report! that's a pretty chunky walleye! looks bigger than 26. I will be headed up for the weekend with a group. all first timers. Cant wait!
