Ham/Coon Lake

Recommended Posts

Coon is always a good bet for numbers of small blue gills. Pretty good action to keep the kids entertained (and the big kids like me). Few crappies mixed in as well. Small pike are in there too but I haven't had much luck getting them to bite.

Pike can be tough on coon but if you can get big shiners they will bite all day. Find fast drop offs and lay tipups across, especially on a warmer sunny day. Theres plenty of range in the size of pike too, 5 lb'ers thru the ice are not too uncommon for me and ive got much bigger than that in the summer. Theres also a 1/1,000,000 chance you could catch a slab crappie, theres a few of em left in there (I caught a 13" in spring 2006, most recent). I dont know if they still catch walleye but we use to when i lived on the lake about a year ago. Tons of little sunnies and crappie also.

Just left coon. Panfish bite isn't too bad on the shallow sid. n to ham lots of action but no size. Tipup for pikes is best bet.
