Just wondering if a guy can travel around on area lakes with a truck? Is there any slush issues and the best travel is by sled? Thanks for the help.

Awful from what I have seen. I have a house on Moose north of deer river. Slush and lots of snow. Can't get a 4 wheeler out, and our V-plowed road drifted shut. That being said, at least the fishing has been poor.

Pokeg has some bad spots and it sounds like most of the lakes have slush issues. I would recommend sled travel and a long track if you have that option.

The poor lake conditions are exactly why I've been spending most of my time on Winnie, where there are miles of plowed roads and we can drive out to the spots. From what I've been hearing, most of the other lakes do have slush conditions/problems. As much as I'd like to go to some of the little crappie/bluegill lakes, I don't see it happening for a while, for me anyway. For the time being, I'll be spending a lot of time on large, resort-plowed lakes like Winnie, URL, Lake of the Woods, etc.

Thanks for the replies guys. Yeh, we are planning on hitting Winni on Saturday and then pop around to some smaller lakes on Sunday and Monday. But with the slush issues I've been hearing about that doesn't sound like such a good idea. Thanks again for the update! smile
