They've had alot of snow also over 40'' inches so far this year. My folks live in Devils Lake and it has blown hard just this last week so the fields are not powdered but should be good and hard packed for walking now. I've been wanting to get back there this winter to call also but have been to busy.

If you're just planning to coyote hunt on your trip, I would save some money and got to southern SD. Out of state licences are $35 and they plow nearly every road. They have very little snow and a ton of dogs. I was just there last week and the ranchers were excited to let me hunt and even gave some helpful advise as well. Just a word from the wise though, get your license online before you go, most of the gas stations don't sell them anymore. Early mornings and late evenings are best.

Good Luck!

I don't think I would go to ND right now - too much snow. They only plow roads that people live on. Many roads would not be plowed. The plowed ones can blow shut pretty quick if a wind comes up. 2 wheel drive - no way. With all the wind, snow tends to pile up at roads and section lines. That makes unplowed ones completely impassable, even to 4wd.

We have many yotes where we hunt but the snow is way to deep to chase them.

We are about 50 mile SW of Fargo and I would love for someone to go and wipe out all they could.

The snow is an issue as we are the last on the gravel road and it does not get plowed but once or twice a winter.

ya im here alone and boy do i have a great story for everyone i hunted a spot tonight after dark that i had seen a yote the day before i walked in on a treeline and placed my coyote decoy at the tip of a fallen tree i walked around the tree and sat with my back to the "brush" of the tree i was facing down the treeline with the treeline to my right , decoy at my 7 and open field from 9-12 after squeeking for a while i howled and had no response as i started to do my final look over of the field i heard footsteps behind me followed by growling. there was a coyote about 15 yards directly behind me growling and staring at my decoy(which is a heavy duty home made black cutout) i had no shot due to the tree being in the way i had no oportunity to turn anyways after a min or two of the growling i let out a queit lip sqeek. the dog cut back thru the treeline around my right and back thru the trees in front of me 6 yards... 6 yards i walked it off took about 2 minutes of very slow movinng to get my gun in position after i shot him i walked it off. what a great hunt! one of the best hunting experiences of my life

I've been there. You put in all the work so why not enjoy it. That's an awesome story. Glad to hear you're connecting out there.
