Tim Tebow MN Viking

I heard some news that the Vikings are going to offer McDaniels the job and that he is going to be bring Tebow with him to QB the Vikings. Apparently Dever wants nothing to do with Tebow. I guess if he turns into Steve Young I am all for it.

And I dont know what is with all the stupid mock drafts, but a good deal of them have the Vikings going after D-linemen in the first two rounds. These guys have no credibility whatsoever.

Wwouldn't be a thing in the world wrong with augmenting the d-line in the early rounds. Fat williams is at the end of his career, k. Williams is into his 30s, and Edwards is probably a goner. Minnesota has so many positions of need to fill that IMO they need to just draft the best player on the board, regardless of position, for at least the first three rounds.

How does a fired head coach "bring" a QB under contract with his former team to his new job as Quarterbacks Coach?

Assuming, of course, that Tebow's skill set will ever work in the NFL.

Here is the report from state run media's Judd Zulgad.

Although the Vikings have yet to say whether former Broncos coach Josh McDaniels will become their offensive coordinator (or even how the meeting between the two sides went on Friday), there is now an interesting twist to the story if that does happen.

John Elway, the Broncos' new executive vice president of football operations, told Peter King of NBC and Sports Illustrated that he doesn't, " think Tim Tebow is a good quarterback at this level at this time.”

That could mean that Elway will be looking to trade Tebow -- King made it clear that Elway never told him he wants to deal Tebow -- and if he does the team that hires McDaniels could be urged to go get Tebow so the two could continue to work together. Former NFL quarterback Rich Gannon told the Star Tribune on Friday that veteran Kyle Orton, who has been with Denver, would be a good fit to run the McDaniels offense but Tebow could be viewed as the Vikings' long-term answer.

Vikings fans will recall the Tebow mania before last year's draft when there was all types of speculation that Minneosta might grab the former Florida Gator. In that case, it was never clear if then-coach Brad Childress or vice president of player personnel Rick Spielman was a Tebow fan. If it was Spielman, Childress would have had the authority to tell him no on Tebow.

In the end, it didn't matter because the Broncos traded up to get the 25th pick in the draft and took Tebow. The Vikings were slated to pick 30th.

If Childress was the one who said he didn't want Tebow and Spielman did like him it could be a situation now where it would be realistic for the Vikings to take a run at the quarterback. Remember, Spielman and new coach Leslie Frazier are expected to both have a say over the roster, where Childress had final authority of the final 53.

As King points out, the real issue now would be the lack of a collective bargaining agreement. Trades can not be made until the first day of the new league year on March 4 and if a lockout starts that day because of no CBA no trades will be allowed until the work stoppage is finished.

Shortly after King's report, Elway took to Twitter to start the damage control.

"To clarify my thoughts on Tim Tebow... I think he's a very good football player, and if anyone can turn themselves into a great QB, Tim can," Elway said. "Myself and our entire organization think very highly of him. We are pleased with his first year as a Bronco. Any speculation that the Denver Broncos are considering moving Tim is completely false."

Nonetheless, if McDaniels does land with the Vikings it's nearly certain plenty of Tebow speculation is certain to follow.

Why do people keep getting pumped about these running QBs? The NFL isn't college. We need a solid pocket passer in order to go anywhere in this league. Tebow will never be successful in the NFL.

Unless of course you have the Vikings offensive line. whistle

Tebow threads needle between 2 defenders:

Granted, I am in no way saying he is coming here, nor am I saying he could be successful, but I was watching this when it happened, and it was a pretty pass

orton had a great year till McDaniels left then he kinda fell apart

Ortons year was a byproduct of the teams inability to hold the opposing team to less than 30 pts per gm. He had to chuck the rock like 50 times a game, easy to get 300 yards and 2-3 tds with that.

Kinda like Asomugha, he didn't have an interception this year, well, he must have had a bad year, right? Well, his recievers he covered caught 13 passes in the 14 games he played.

Stats don't tell the whole tale.

I pulled out the part about Asumuguh, but Aaron Rodgers is same way- puts up a ton of yards, and TDs- but they have NO running game so he throws ALL THE TIME. Very inflated and skewed numbers

Like last year when Grant rushed for 1200+ yards?

Is that the "no running game" you speak of?

You brought that up last year and it was hogwash then and it's hogwash now.

One would think that if they have "no running game" that the defenses would key in on the pass and Rodgers' numbers would be horrible, but that's not the case at all, is it?

Like Jared Allen and the Vikes did? Rodgers still has nightmares about them games. Whats next- throw out this years Vikes/Packers game? Lets hear it, that holds no water at all. We were horrible in every aspect but our punting game this season.

You can't pick out individual games to make a case for why Rodgers is averaging over 4000yds per season. Judging by this year's matchups with the Vikes, Rodgers got over last year pretty quick. grin

If you want we can throw out those Vikings/GB games and then the Hillbilly's sack totals don't look so rosy either, do they?

Rodgers is a stud. You can't deal with that, so be it, but don't spew some [PoorWordUsage] that they have "no running game" and thats why his numbers are what they are because that's nothing more than denial. I could roll out a page of stats to prove your theory wrong but it's not worth the time and it'd be getting in the way of the purple drooling over Tim freaking Tebow. Good luck with that. sick

Starks looks like he'll give the Pack all the running game they'll need. He's looks like he may be really good...a big, punishing runner...exactly the type that wins play-off games.

Although I will be pulling for the Falcons or any ther team the Pack plays this off-season...they will be a tough out.

I would really like to have Tebow on my team, just for the versatility I think he could give you at a position like TE. I, like many, don't believe his QB skills will transition well in the NFL. However, if someone was able to convince him that a position switch is the way to go, i'd definitely want him on my team. He is one of the most athletic players in college football history, and possibly one of the most athletic in the NFL right now.

Yeah Rodgers is a stud- finally won his first playoff game. Lmit, do us all a big favor and admit you like the Packers.

Oh, and the team he barely beat in the playoffs is the same team a very very bad Vikings team destroyed with a horrible QB, so I am not too sure I am even giving him that one
