Want to get peoples thoughts on not being able to drive after dark on lakes with aeration in blue earth county. Im tired of walking out and having people driving all around after dark. I look at like this. The county should enforce the law or get rid of it. What do you guys think? I think there is only 1 other county in the state that has this!

AGREED!! with reflective aeration/thin ice sings in a circle every twenty feet or so around the aeration, you either have to be hammered drunk or a complete [PoorWordUsage] to drive into open water. It should either be enforced ALOT stricter then it is or scrapped completely

poor word usage? i didnt think id-ee-ot was a bad word, whatever

im not sure it is a county rule.. I fish lakes in scott and lesueur counties that have this rule posted. I wonder if it is just a liability thing. ???? It is a rediculous rule.

I know a person that drove right by the signs and drove right into the open water in the dark.

this person is a law officer.

If you see a vechile on the lake and they are not to be there, call the police.

Take them down or modify...that lake is pretty tiny and only has soo many spots to fish so with proper signs and a common sense applied to direction and weather conditions(whiteout)most people can be safe...maybe they can modify the rule to where if your vehicle is out in dark you need to sleep over(no movement)and not drive until dawn. i predominantly fish overnights so this lake puts a kink in that method....as far as your example of a law officer going through i dont see how that stresses your example more...my 2cents

Lake Elysain is a no drive at night lake. Noone enforces that lake as a truck almost ran us over one night. The county dispatch said without a plate number there is nothing they can do. I said they could sit at the landings and wait.

How hard is it to send a deputy to the ramp at sundown? once they handed out a few tickets or warnings the word would spread fast! I'm sure the budget and manpower dosent allow this.

Its my understanding that you can drive on the lake at night if you are 20 to 30 yards from the shoreline. not sure if i am correct or not but i thought i seen that on the sign out at the loon landing.

If you go through the ice just make sure you wait until sun rise to report it!

Just because others do it it doesn't make it right. Set an example.

That is my thoughts!

Elysian is 30 feet from shore. I read the sign today. I think it is a foolish law. If the system is well marked it is the drivers responsibilty to know where its at or be aware of it. With a sign at every access how could you drive into it. Granted it is dangerous but common sense goes along ways. IMO

I do most of my ice fishing after dark so this does put a damper on me ever fishing a lake with this rule. I want to add that I'm sorry for anyone who has driven out on a lake after dark and drove into open water, However maybe this is natures way of weeding out the stupid people?? crazy
