What is your Biggest Pool 4 Walleye! Picks Added

Recommended Posts

As you all know Pool 4 is known for its giants . How big have you caught? My personal best (PB) for length is 30.25". I'm guessing the weight was only about 8 pounds or so as it was a skinny fish in early September. As for weight I have broken 10 pounds multiple times but have yet to break 11 lbs. Although I have had fish over 11 lbs caught in my boat.

Let's here your pb stories.

Many walleyes the last couple years 26 to 30 inches, personnal best was a 31 and a half walleye [all released]on crankbaits ,pools 13 and 14 now how about a 26 pound sheephead caught on a jig and leech ? also a 45 inch flathead on 6 pound test ,jig crawler combo! and finally my biggest acomplishment was a 63 inch paddlefish 10 pound test on a jacks jig /minnow !the only reason i got him ,was i hooked him right on the point of his beak, Man i love that ole river!!

It was cool because it was one of thoes day where u could walk across the river with all of them boats smile also about 4 weeks ago, cought my biggest cat fish by the dam. Not sure how big it was frown I'm not a fan on picking them up lol smile. I'm iching to get back out there. Stupid cold spell

Here is my PB 31 inch caught April 13, 2008 on a blade bait on the cast on sand. My client with me said as we saw it breach about 20 yards from the boat, "its a carp"...I looked at him and said in a serious tone "whatever you do, net this carp!". Released healthy back after pics. Looked like a walleye from outer space it was so big.

Keep catchin'

Mike,

I think from the top two pics that was the day I was the net man! Or the guy that couldn't catch a hog and had to bare hand those hogs, becuase we did not have a net!!! How is your buddy Tim by the way?

Nice video as well!

I caught one 2 years ago on pool 4 jigging that went 31.5 inches and was a tick over 12#. I have a photo but it's from a film camera, no digital.

All dandy pool 4 eyes above. Just may be the best area in the state to hook into a true trophy.

My avatar fish. Didn't measure it but weighed 13 3. Early spring pitching ringies. Already had a 26 and 28 that day and this fish just dwarfed them.

Awesome fish guys! I have never got a big one there, biggest was probably around 6lbs, I always seem to hit it when the bite is tough.

Why drive all the way to canada, when you just have too fish on weekdays or wait for the weather to be crappy. Never fish on weekends unless you like bumper boats. If you spend some time down there, you can find spots away from the crowd.

The area at the lock & rollerdam represents approx 6% of the total fishable river to the head of the lake. I will agree that a few times of the year, 90% of the boats want to fish less than 10% of the water. I cant help but wonder if the other guys fishing downriver might just be on to something? smile

pool 4 has some big eyes but it is always a zoo! Head to canada!

Where I fish I am rarely bothered by other boats, in fact the most boats I am usually around is 3 or 4. Most spots I can have all by myself!

That's because as we all know the ONLY good fishing on pool 4 is up by the dam wink

So if you go, just stay up there... don't waste your time in the backwaters, there aren't any fish there! wink
