I am also looking for a report for long point. Went out last week before the new year and it was pretty slow and I haven't got a good report from long point. Looking to fish the weekend let me know if anyone has been in the area.

Thanks

I guess fishing was decent before the big blow last weekend. The boys were out tending to the roads first thing Sunday morning and the area

looked good. I know guys who fished Twin Islands with good success and

we caught fish in deep water pretty much right out in front of the resort. It wasn't great but there was a huge blizzard going on. This

weekend will tell the tale, stable weather no excuses. I think fishing

will be be good.

I think the wife and i are going to head up tonight.

any idea where i should start 30' to 32'?

Weatherman said last night we can expect 25-30 mph winds today, then calm winds but plummeting temps thru the weekend. That doesn't sound too stable to me.

This winter's weather is kicking LOW's backside. March can't come soon enough! wink

Wouldn't it be nice if global climate change would make our winter weather like March from Dec-March?

No, I don't think we would have much of an ice sheet then. It is an odd start to the ice season though.

Okay, we get the ice sheet, then have 20+ degree temps for the rest of winter! It was kind of a rhetorical question... wink

The wind is already kicking up a lot of snow down here this morning. What's it doing up there JB? Supposed to blow 25-30 mph today, then temps will hit the basement again this weekend.

I think it's this constant fluctuation, that seems to always precede the weekend, that's making the fish tight lipped.

Snow was blowing pretty good on the way into work this am. Agree on the constant up and down of the weather making the fishies tight lipped. And I knew what you meant, i was kinda be a wisenhiemer wink...

Yep. You gotta wonder when, and if the walleye bite is going to pick up again. The saugers keep it interesting, but there's gotta be eyes down there that are getting hungry too!

Hope you and the wife are safe while wood-cutting. It's gonna be cold with a pretty nasty windchill, but sometimes that makes wood-cutting a little easier! Think I'd rather put up some wood then fish in this weather. Good luck and be safe.

I was gonna head out today to avoid the weekend fishers but no thanks now, a bit windy for sitting in the little Otter.

Looking at the forecast I think Monday pm and all day Tuesday the fish will be snappin. Iffin the forecast I spyed stays as is maybe anyhow!!

Somethings gotta give. Looking at a variety of reports from area lakes this week it seems to be a bit 'off' for most anglers on LOTW, URL. and LW even. Gotta be the weather.

I am surprised by all the wind today (and I am the weatherman). I would like to amend my earlier post with "if" the weather would

stabilize a bit, I think the fish would bite good. I still think

fishing will be good Saturday and into Sunday....or maybe just

Sunday...or maybe 1/2 the day Saturday then all day Sunday...

....ah nuts, I am still gonna go and try.

Is the west road plowed to 31' straight off twin islands yet or do you have to take the east road to find 31'?

Their west road was around 30 feet in places, so if you stay to the north side you can find 31'.

4 of us just got back from a 2 day trip up there. We were in about 28' and ended up with 30 keepers, 1 21 incher and some baby sauger, put back. VERY finicky bite, downsized and deadsticking with a minnow head were the effective methods. One day Chartreuse was best...next day , glow red was best. PATIENCE......lots of PATIENCE. One HUGE fish was lost....couldn't get it off the bottom, then it came unhooked. cry

That HIGH PRESSURE really slowed the bite down. Can get around the lake with a truck, but pick your spots between ice chunks and drifts. We had about 22-24 inches ice.

Good Luck!

Just when it seems the fish are about to go, another storm or 30 degree

temperature drop rolls in. The fish are there and they are eating good.

The fish we are catching are fat pigs...even the little guys, that may]

have more to do with it than anything.

There are fish being caught, be patient, and keep fishing, pay attention.

Good Luck, See you out there

THe previous couple outings I had fished 30 - 31' with pretty good fishing...kept mostly saugers with a couple walleyes each time. A couple slots each time and a heck of a pout bite a week ago. Fished a 28' yesterday and had a good bite. Not as many fish but very few dinky ones. Four very nice eyes and four nice saugers kept. One slot, a 25". Not a bite jigging, no suspended fish. Kind of a strange year.

looking for some help. Just bought a 16 ft wheel house and heading up to long point on Saturday. I have been up there a few times but never with my own house. Wondering how easy it is to find a spot to put the house and or will they plow me a spot for $20. It will be me the wife and a 2 year old so dont really want to get stuck. Thanks

I was up 8th and 9th, with an 8x20 wheel house and could get around.

If you have a dought unhook your house on the road, figure out where you want to be go back and grab your house, i know sounds like alot of work but if you get stuck with just the pickup it's way easier to get it out alone rather than having the house behind you. grin

I will also be up there this weekend.

Good luck

We were in 28 ft of water and the fishing was pretty slow. Wanted to move but with only me the wife and a 2yr old it didnt happen. All saugers and couple of pout. Had a nice fish fry and brought a couple home but it was slow. We caught most of them on Sunday from 2-3.
