It was a fun and productive grouse season. Good enough that quite a few roosters did not make it inti our freezer because it was funner to be grouse hunting.

I'd say it was a very good grouse season. There seemed to be plenty of birds. Sometimes even in marginal habitat. 2009 was pretty wet after the opener. THis year we did not get the rain and so there were lots of nice hunting days. I did see a lot of hunters early in the year. The good forecast by the DNR was probably the main cause of that. Plenty of 4 wheelers as well. It will be interesting to get the drumming counts next spring. 2010 may have been the peak in the cycle. Even if it was, 2011 should be pretty good unless we get a ton of rain in May and June. My 18 month old lab worked great and we had a blast together. Can't wait til next year.

my view:

this was the year to introduce someone new to the tradition of grouse hunting. mainly perfect weather and plenty of birds to see. very good season to be out and enjoy it all

I thought it was good. Maybe better than last years "peak". Was able to go out and walk for a few hours and shoot a limit more than once and had a chance to do it most days I was out. I know I at least went through a lot of shells.

I saw plenty of grouse this year, shot enough for a few meals and had a blast doing so.

As mentioned above, the weather was more than cooperative for the first half of the season--couldn't ask for nicer days to be lolly-gagging through the woods looking for grouse.

Every once in a while lately, around dusk, I'll go for a drive around and see a few up in the trees eating buds. Nice to know there's still plenty around the area.

Hopefully we have a nice spring conducive to a good grouse hatch, and may the not-so-good weather stay away until the chicks are big enough.

We actually had a couple really nice days in the rain. The grouse were feeding heavily on the trail edges. Great scenting conditions and great points.

Best year I've had in a while. Didn't have to brave the thick stuff to find them. Biggest complaint was how much I was sweating opening weekend. Also saw tons of rabbits. Took a few for some stew. Sure wish something could be done about the 4-wheelers. Had guys come up behind us on a trail we were pushing, pass us, and hunt the trail we were already working. Kind of a 'Richard' move if you ask me.

Yeah Solid year for sure! I don't know if I ever got skunked this season, absolutely incredible amount of birds, crossing the fingers for next season though-we'll see how this crazy winter affected them. Lots of rabbits agreed!

I got skunked a few times but it was not due to seeing birds. I tryed convincing my wife that my barrel is bent on my shotgun but she did not buy into it. Oh well... It was by far my best season ever.
