Driving conditions on Coon Lake

I haven't tried Coon yet. Are people driving all over? How thick is the ice? Anything biting?

Was out there on friday and I only saw wheelers on the the ice. Ice was about 12-14" but the top 3-5" was white frozen slush. I could only get the small blue gills to bite. Was hoping to get a few pike, but no such luck.

Anyone willing to provide a few tips on cathing some Coon Lake pike? Thanks.

Many years ago Northern's were wandering straight out from the Public landing on the nosrth side, just west of the channel. More recently, a good place might be straight out from that landing past the grass island on the right and maybe about 100 yards from the East shore (coon lake beach). I think there is a drive on from that area too. Tip ups with sucker minnows.

Thanks for the info on driving. I would think with this cold weather, it should be pretty good by next week.

If you can find big shiners they will always produce pike on Coon. Sharp breaks with weed cover always should produce Pike and theres a place you can catch Walleye but thats for me to know and you to find out. Id say fish the small side, produces more and bigger ones mixed in more frequently than the big side.
