we need machinists

knoppers

Question

not sure where to post this, but I will try here

UMC in monticello, we need many workers, we are that busy. we need other positions also, like washing and assemble, so come in and apply, please.

we are booked for the next year, we aleady have hired on about 30 in the last two months, but we still need more. I have been put on manditory 55 hour weeks for the next three months. I don't want that, because I have been crazy busy all year. job security is also good here, for the contracts we have.

Are you hiring with no experience? Send email.

What shifts? Does an experienced Class A Machinist have to start on nights and wait for a day-shift opening? What kind of machines? Do you guys start out cross training guys or let them work on things familiar? Like most guys are either experienced turning guys or Mill guys, few are both. What kind of starting wage for 10+ year guys? Do you all do your own set-ups or have set-up guys and then chuckers come and run the job out? Do you run off of time standards with high pressure put on for 100% efficiency? What kind of tooling support, as in a crib and cribbie or is it self service? Do they require your own inspection equipment or is it provided? Also mandatory 55 hour weeks, eew, is upper managment pretty hard on the floor workers just sort of grinding them down? Thats a lot of hours to keep up doing without getting worn out if your a little older. Sorry for so many questions but all are important factors for guys in the field with options, and I'm guessing the company would rather hire those than newbies.

Whats the company name?

Nevermind I got it: UMC

Also just curious in the wages. Probably wont consider it since it's just as far away as my current job and doubt the wage is any higher.

Yea, I've looked at their website and they all look good on the homesite. You get the REAL info on what a place is like talking to the guys on the floor that have been around.

Red Dog, check out their website and look under Facilities List and there is a list of machines. Looks like mostly Matsuura Mills; Nakamura and Mori Seiki mill/turns and Mori Seiki Lathes. As well as Haas in the prototype shop, and Charmilles wire EDM's.

Looks like a nice place but way too far of a drive and can't move and I'm a mold maker/programmer so probably wouldnt fit anyway. Good luck to everybody interested.

It is one of the cleanest shops I have seen.

I work down the road at a much smaller shop, but we are just as busy.

Lots of the shops in the Monti Industrial Park are hiring.

knoppers and all members,

In the future you can use the free classified ads here at HSO for this type of Help Wanted posts.

It really doesn't belong here but considering the economy and helpfulness brother knoppers has extended I didn't want to edit this thread. Thank you knoppers for giving members of HSO the heads up

I know if I was in the job market I'd go right to UMC in Monticello and apply for the position. Really if your serious your wasting time here asking questions. So , go, go now.
