So on Monday a buddy of mine and I will be heading out in the area to try and do some pike fishing. He has never been ice fishing and wants to pull a pike out of the ice for the first time. Usually I am a walleye guy or pan fish but I don't have many spots for pike. Just a few names of decent lakes would be appreciated I don't need any certain spots but some good advice is always appreciated. Thanks.

Frances / Kelly-Dudley / Tetonka

Shiners have been working better than sucker minnows for me this winter. 12 fow has been better than shallow

Frances will put fish on the ice but normally small once. I'd try German/Jefferson or Tetonka.

Find the weedline or even better a hole in the weeds on a shallow weed.

we caught a bunch of sunfish... we went in from the back boat landing )not the one in town) I dont know the name of the bay. There are a ton of weeds until you get out about 200 yards... Should be able to see where people have been setting up. We were in about 9 ft of water with very minimal weeds.

ohh and if the sunnies all of a sudden stop biting then there is a pike nearby.... everytime the sunnies quit biting we hooked a pike. Not very big pike but it was fun gettin them in! Sunnies were hitting on waxies and pike on shiners
